Sorry about that... I moved houses and knew there'd be a lapse in internet availability, but that was more problematic than I'd imagined. Anyway - slowly getting back to normal - there'll be some additional outages over the next day or so as my line speed is being upgraded - but hopefully that will see us back to normal again.

Sorry if I haven't been able to respond to any requests over the last few weeks, I have a little more time now - but I'm still in the boxes everywhere stage of house moves, so it might be a week or so before things really settle down.

Thanks for your patience!

Enter the YoungI as the Germans set up a defensive perimeter but the Americans concentrated their force and easily silenced the HMG before advancing. In hindsight I think I set up too close as the American's initial turn is hard to weather. dr_sarcophagus
Bitter Defense at OttaGoing into this we knew it heavily favored the Germans, but it felt even more lopsided than we thought once we got into it. Germans made a strong push through the pine woods. I knew I'd run into at least one roadblock there but figured there would be ample time for my infantry to clear it. The first was gone by the end of Turn 3. The Germans pushed the defending Brits back as their compatriots rushed down from the hills to bolster them. Turn 4 saw the German reinforcements arrive carrying their rafts. By this time the Brits had completely committed to protecting the woods, but they redirected enough troops back to the river to challenge the crossing. They would do such a good job that the two sides held each other in limbo for the greater part of the game. Turn 5 saw the second roadblock, but by this time the woods were so thin the Germans decided to drive their tanks through them. Right into the Brits plan however as they ran smack dab into the sights of the AT gun. The gun eliminated one, while the other went down to MG fire. At this point, facing a staunch British force across the clearing, an AT gun in their face, a mortar and HMG up on the hill, and having lost both tanks, German confidence started to falter ever so slightly. Thankfully the mortar busted before doing any damage (and eventually was lost) and the HMG kept jamming up itself. The Brits must have rolled at least a handful of 12s for their heavy support weapons throughout the game. The Germans soon busted through again and there appeared to be no stopping them, but again the Brits held tough, contesting the gully and the next woods mass. Time, which seemed to be a non-issue early, was starting to become a factor. At this point the Germans decided to split their force and send a few into the hills to tackle the HMG squad. Once he fell it was pretty much smooth sailing, and the Germans ended up exiting 29 VP on Turn 12. Fun scenario, even though it is quite unbalanced. buser333
