Although the ART 155 didn't last long on board, the initial fire from it with the supporting troops adding to the German misery. Maintaining ROF with the HMGs phase after phase did much at keeping the Germans broken and DM while slowly grinding their squads down for the needed CVP.

The well placed French defenses forward of the bridge refused to give any ground while keeping the Germans broken and disorganized in the grainfield until they had earned 25 CVP without a single German unit stepping foot on the bridge.

Way too many malfunctioned weapons to stand much of a chance against Jeff. Had a nice ROF run early in the game that broken many German squads but soon they rallied and the French equipment let them down and the Germans got across the bridge on Turn 6 for an early victory.

Germans chose to come right up the gut, with only a MMG and the 9-2 in the north to try and suppress the MMG nest. My truck and HS passenger were flamed by one of the AT guns while trying to make too deep of a push. That insolent crew would not be much longer for this world. Germans suffered a lot of breaks early, but were able to rally back in the grain. Turn 3 was probably the tipping point, with the French breaking the MMG up in the castle (to be gone for good the next turn) and one of the HMGs along the canal. The other HMG and MMG manning infantry were busted. The Germans for there part did break (and ultimately lose the next turn) their MMG in the north. It probably would've been over shortly after this if the Germans could find some smoke, but the radio operator could not maintain contact for at least 3-4 successive rolls. The French HMG looking down the bridge was subsequently re-manned, holding the Germans to a crawl for a couple turns. But, once they were broke (and even without smoke), the Germans were able to cross the bridge in force on Turn 6 and dispatch the green guards in CC in the victory building for the win.

Germans did not get onto the bridge until turn 8 but could still have won if they had not panicked and raced across the bridge in trucks which were easy targets.

An interesting scenario, but I think the balance is fragile and too dependent on the dice. James had really poor shots and malfunctions at the beginning, which let me get too fast to the bridge.

Nice scenario - lots of German toys, sneaking over a bridge.

An expensive lesson in Fire Lanes took the heart out of my attack before it got going.
