As sometimes happens, a very quiet
but important sector of a battlefield gets some very hot action. The
mission of Commander Lee Marvin was to find a Special Prisoner kept in
one of the buildings of this nondescript large town, and bring him or
her to a predesignated night landing site a few miles away. He knew of
only twelve men who could pull it off.
Aftermath: After a diversionary fire set at the far end of town, the
Dirty Dozen came roaring into town in stolen SPWs, went directly to the
nearby, target building, overpowered the guards, quickly secured the
Special Prisoner, and drove through town, disrupting the paltry defenses
thrown up by the inept Conscripts. The enraged SS Interrogation unit raced
on foot behind them, since they belatedly found that their vehicles had
been disabled by a foreign substance in their petrol tanks.
