The U.S. 88th Infantry Division was to take Mount Bracchi in the opening of the offensive to take Rome. The 351st Infantry Regiment was to take the small town of Santa Maria Infante. But to reach it they had to attack over difficult terrain – in the dark. Small knolls known jocularly to the Americans as the Right and Left Tit jutted out on either side of the road to Infante. At 2300 hours, without artillery preparation, Company F stepped off in the darkness for the Left Tit. . .
Scenario looks interesting, but you wouldn't know from the speed at which Stephen diced me. His Americans walked right through my minefields and passed all but one MC while my Germans couldn't hit anything and broke and ran under fire. The numbers tell the story -- my average IFT and MC rolls were 8+ while Stephen's was 5. The game lasted to turn 6 only because I made some lucky CC rolls and managed to escape to fight one more turn. Even so, that didn't change the game, since by turn 6 Stephen had 15 good order squads and I had three. Game over!

German win
First attempt at night rules and it showed. I used IR too early, thus helping the Germans to get rid of their No Move counters. The rest of the scenario was an uphill battle, both figuratively and literally speaking. By Turn 7 it was clear I had no chance to win anymore.
The night rules do change the game quite a bit and make for an interesting ASL experience.

German win
This time NVR didn´t go down. Had an american rolling high on most rolls that mattered. manged to break the american killer stack when it was running past all defenses in the east side but ran past my HiPed HMG which opened fire and then reduced the whole stack to halfsquads. With that the game was won.

German win
Another great infantry struggle between Dan Best and myself. My wire and mines did their job. Meanwhile my machine guns chewed on Dan's boys until I broke nearly all of them. Dan managed to exit 3 squads and then couldn't take dominance of the hill. So a German win...but just barely.

The American slowly grinded the German line that could do almost nothing to stop their advance. A methodic break+reduce on each German position allowed the Americans to take the hill and advance to the exit, wire stopped them a little but to no avail.

An early corridor of darkness (which just so happened to also be free of mines/wire) allowed the Americans to storm the hill early, but it took almost until the end to exit the necessary four squads. By this time the Germans had no good order squads left standing and only a sole leader manning a MMG. Great fun.
