After five days of fighting, both Hatten and Rittershoffen had largely been split in two, with the Germans holding slightly more of the most prominent positions. Many buildings had been rubbled, burned to the ground or suffered significant structural damage from the constant, close range tank fire and incessant artillery attacks. The American 14th Armored Division continued to flex its muscle, with attacks made along the key roads toward the main church. Despite repeated days of fighting, the Germans were far from complacent in response. After German defensive lines began to bend, counterattacks across the line were ordered, with support by tanks of Flamm-Panzer-Kompanie 352.
Attacker: American (E Company, 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, A Company, 19th Armored Infantry Battalion, and 3rd Platoon, A Company, 47th Tank Battalion, 14th Armored Division)
Defender: German (Bataillon I, Panzergrenadier-Regiment 125, Panzer-Division 21 with Bataillon I, Panzer-Regiment 125, Flamm-Panzer-Kompanie 352 and Panzer-Abteilung 1, Panzer-Regiment 22, Panzer-Division 21)
Americans should have won but neglected to get close enough to cover a victory hex they had already cleared. really tight game.

Americans made good initial progress but failed to cut off the German reinforcements due to inept handling of US armour. Didn't help that the German sniper with its mighty SAN of 3 took out two officers, a Sherman and broke about a platoon of squads. The US also had the fun experience of hitting a German FT twice with bazooka rounds that turned out be duds just before it ended the game by overrunning and torchinig the last US troops in a postiion to try to seize the seond victory building on their right flank. Once the reinforcemets got into the VC building it was alwasy going to be tough sledding though.
Round 4 of Roma 2022. I was the Americans and progressed quite well against the center buildings, using Armored assault and a lot of smoke and WP. On the left I quickly dislodged the defenders, but managed not to kill them, and on the right there were mainly dummies and my troops there slowly advanced, carrying the MGs. I managed to capture both buildings by the closing turns but the tank battle went awful for me, with the Flame Tanks simply turning their powerful armor on my Shermans and burning them one by one. On the last turn I had control of all the hexes of both buildings with good stackd, but he simply moved the Flame Tanks by and flamed my units, breaking them and then got some luck with a MG attack and managed to break all the 9 American squad defenders in a single turn, the last one, for the win.

A very interesting scenario with many possibilities. The Americans smoked the Germans with WP and they progressed swiftly and at turn 3 they already controlled the two victory buildings. I tried to counterattack targeting only one building. However, I lost too many troops in the first turns and the Germans were overwhelmed at the end... Well played Laurent !

Completely different game to my October playing. Andy spread the attack to try and stretch the defence....His right flank got knocked back however by the reinforcing German AFV and the remainder couldn't take the second VC building.

Initial American attack was on the West, supported by armor in the center. The German right (The Fort and all points West) quickly collapsed with heavy casualties, mostly from failure to route. As the Americans turned East and attacked along Rue Principale, the battle turned into a brawl as the GIs of the 315th stormed the final buildings. Smoke, VBM and a bit of luck won the day.

I managed to split the German line in two. The western pocket was quickly eliminated before the German reinforcements arrived. The US armor won the tank fight and the Germans were reeling, causing a concession on turn 4.
