Overview:
While the 'Nordwind' offensive stalled, flatcars carrying the first massive Jagdtigers of the 653rd Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalion were delayed behind the front. They missed the 'Wacht am Rhein' offensive and would find themselves thrust into a purely defensive role. American troops met the Jagdtigers for the first time outside the village of Rimling.
