After nearly a week of exhausting combat, the Russian 32nd Rifle Division had proved to be as effective as its German counterparts. In order to speed up the advance towards the Soviet capital, the Germans were compelled to break through Russian resistance at all costs. Panzer-Regiment 7 sent forward von Bülow, and his Kampfgruppe, supported by the last AFVs still capable of combat after that terrible week. This time, the only remaining German option was to break through the Russian lines.

I drew the Ivans in this one and set up to hold out around the I8 and K7 building with token forces holding the other two buildings. Jim's attack developed quickly but my plan was working until Russian GT3 when things fell apart. One MMC X6'd the MMG, then my 9-1 and two key squads broke. Both snipers stuck twice, but I lost my crews while Jim just had his AC recalled. Once my AT weapons were out of action, Jim used his SPWs expertly to encircle my positions and cut rout paths. Good scenario - very well played by him.

I know when you lose it feels like the dice were against you but I swear they were. I couldn't break a Russian with an a-bomb. And when I did, they immediately rallied. The Germans evened out the dice rolls by failing every morale check and giving the Russians the win with a CR on a 1MC. Russians won turn 4 just before their reinforcements came in. It was still an enjoyable scenario, however, and would play it again.

A very tough scenario for the Germans. The Russian 45L took out all the half-tracks and then immobilized the MKIII before it was captured by a German Hero and destroyed. Dan captured all the buildings by Turn 4, but a HIP 6-2-8 all the way on the east edge bided his time and on Turn 5 took back the C3 building and held on against a final German counter-attack for the win.

Strong German attack helped by Russian AT gun going MA on it's first shot. Forgot that the Russian HIP SQ was not accounted for. It jumped out, grabbed a building and could not be dislodged.

Dave wanted to try thi sone more time. He played a very good game, methodically capturing all the buildings. However, he forgot to garrison the one by his entry edge, and I was able to take it back with My reinfocements and he could nto get it back.

Had a bad start where I could not break anything. I lost nothing to serious early but the failure to break the Germs lead to steady loss for me. When I broke my MMG all hell broke loose. It was fun to play and dispite losing feel this could be slghtly pre Russian
