2023-11-15 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | Brent Morris | | German (SS) win | The Germans broke free on turn three and were able to exit enough VP on turn 4. All three LMG broke when laying the initial FL. Tense scenario. I agree that it is a bit dicy, but it is enjoyable. |
2023-06-23 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Joe Arthur | | German (SS) win | Double One 2023 |
2023-06-23 | (D) Indy Lagu | vs | Paul Legg | | German (SS) win | Paul says he diced me. Perhaps he did, as by the end of turn 2,
I had lost my entire right flank.
What Paul leaves out is that he played well thereafter and exploited the
hole he had punched. We played to the end of turn 3, but the outcome
wasn't really in doubt.
I'd happily play this again. The possible reinforcements that pop up from
? counters gives this scenario an interesting twist.
Well played, Paul. I hope we can get a match in next year. |
2023-06-23 | (A) Paul Legg | vs | Indy Lagu | | German (SS) win | Double One 2023 - Mini Round 2 - A textbook case of dicing the opponent. Indy setup with the possible reinforcement counters protecting the extreme flanks (there is a 5 in 6 chance of something activating). The rest of the west half was covered by a 447 squad in 45EE4 and a 527 in each of the ground floor locations of 45AA2 and 45BB2. I setup a kill stack in 23AA10 comprising 3 x 658ss w 2 x lmg and the 9-1 leader. In the prep I opportunity fired and the two 527 obligingly revealed themselves. In Adv. fire I spray fire and break both keeping ROF, 5 or 6 ROF shots later both squads have evaporated. The 447 was taken out in the Russian turn 2 DFPh by a crit. from the SPW 250/7 mortar and the race was on to exit in the NW corner. |
2023-06-23 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | | | German (SS) win | Very quick game, as my opponent mistakenly thought his reinforcements entered on the North edge rather than the South. He consequently didn't have enough forces protecting the western flank, so I concentrated all my troops on that side and just rushed through - aided by a cower result which denied him a fire lane. The only units he had available to plug the gap got shot on their way there, so game over by the end of turn 1.
Generally, I think it's essential for the Russians to concentrate their forces on the two flanks, particularly the western one. If the Germans choose to attack in the centre, the Russians can converge to cover. |
2022-06-05 | (A) Paul Legg | vs | Tim Reade | | Russian win | Scenario Archive PBEM tournament - Although was late getting into it so played live. Took it to the final German turn but well placed Russian units prevented the final dash to exit. |
2022-01-28 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Mike Grogan | | Russian win | This is an unusual scenario due to the visibility restrictions and the variable Russian reinforcements that appear only when they are approached or fired on. It should also be a very interesting one, although it was made slightly less so in our case by the Germans' inability to pass any MC's. Combined with an ELR of 1 and a sneaky LOS that my opponent missed, this meant the German attacking force fairly rapidly dwindled. Russian reinforcements from the south were also successful in crossing the bridge and coming at the attackers from behind, so that by the end of Turn 4 the remaining German troops were almost entirely surrounded. They tried a couple of desperate charges on Turn 5 but conceded when these failed. A fairly comfortable Russian win, though certainly aided by the dice. |

2021-08-16 | (A) patrick palma | vs | John McLoughlin | | German (SS) win
2021-05-09 | (A) Chuck Dye | vs | DD | | German (SS) win | Dicey |
2021-03-02 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Dennis Dowd | | Russian win | I had to try this again, this time my defense forced the Germans to come up the middle of the board. It was close at the end with the Germans trying to exit, but the Russians had enough effective small arms fire to prevent the German win. |
2020-12-01 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Scott Fischbein | | German (SS) win
2020-12-01 | (A) Scott Fischbein | vs | Dave Mareske | | German (SS) win | Dave had a solid defensive setup with his troops spread out across the south end of Bd45, and his reinforcements arranged so that I would have to set off at least a couple of them if I didn't want to run right into his strongest position. I decided to risk a sneak up the west side, and due to some terrible rolls on Dave's part, and some good MCs for me, I made it through with only one broken unit). He wasn't able to reposition many units, and though he did get a 527 reinforcement, it was the only thing left in my path and it succumbed to a CR result on the first (and only possible) attack against it. The only other unit capable of firing was shut down with a lucky smoke placement and I was able to exit 2 1/2 squads and the 9-1 leader in turn two. Interesting scenario, but bound to be dicey with the variable reinforcements. Glad I got a game in with Dave, but wish the dice had been a bit kinder to him. Round 4 of Street Fighting VASL tournament. |
2020-04-04 | (A) Jason Wert | vs | Eben Johnson | | German (SS) win
2019-05-09 | (A) Raoul Duke | vs | MB | | German (SS) win | Very dicey, but lots of fun. All of the Soviet random reinforcements were on the Western flank, so the Germans hit the East hard and fast. Three defensive positions were overrun, surrounded, and destroyed through Failure to Route. Germans exited for the win on turn 3. |

2012-10-05 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Clifford Smith | | Russian win | Random reinforcements make this scenario dicey for a tournament, but it is fun for an evening's entertainment. |

2012-03-28 | (A) Eric Partizan Eric | vs | Pedro Marotte | | German (SS) win

2011-11-30 | (D) Paul Jones | vs | Craig Benn | | Russian win | Short, fun and dicey |
2011-10-27 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Peer Struijf | | Russian win | Nice game, but the scenario is very dicey. My dice were hot and there was nothing Peter could do, since he had crap morale rolls.
As German watch out for those 2nd floor buildings. they have magnificent lines of sight. :-) |
2011-10-13 | (D) Steffen Knippel | vs | Josh Gilbert | | German (SS) win
2011-09-18 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Chris_NL | | German (SS) win | It was game over in 2 turns, thanks to a bad russian set-up a crappy dice rolling. But the scenario was fun and will become a tournament classic. |
2011-08-27 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | | Russian win | Won a close run scenario as the Russians but always felt like a turn or two would swing it the German's way. Very different and elegant SSR for the reinforcements makes this one worth playing.. |
2011-06-19 | (A) Will Willow | vs | M. Shostak | | Russian win | FtF Team Texas |
2011-06-06 | (A) Fred Ingram | vs | Dave McLee | | German (SS) win | 3rd time for Dave & I on this one. He felt he mis-played the defense the first time. 2nd time we flipped it around and he lost as the attacker. 3rd time was a disaster for him. I charged up the middle and destroyed the infantry there in CC's. His "?" units were on the flanks. Since they would not be activated and I just needed to make a run for it, he conceded on turn 3 |
2011-05-30 | (D) X von Marwitz | vs | Ernst Knauth | | Russian win | Cannot remember scenario rating, so put "Average". |
2011-05-28 | (D) Eric Partizan Eric | vs | Michel Bongiovanni | | Russian win
2011-05-23 | (D) Fred Ingram | vs | Dave McLee | | Russian win
2011-05-16 | (A) Fred Ingram | vs | Dave McLee | | German (SS) win
2011-03-30 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | Whit Richardson | | Russian win | Came down to the last possible shot against the last possible exiting unit. Excellent scenario. |
