Even with III Corps breaking the siege of Bastogne on the day after Christmas, there was still much fighting ahead. Patton wanted to use the city as the springboard for a counteroffensive, while Model now made it the central objective for “Wacht am Rhein”. The U.S. 26th “Yankee” Infantry Division was to hold the right flank while other formations made the breakthrough. General von Luettwitz made his move to pinch off the breakthrough at the same time by dispatching fresh reserves from the Fuhrere Grenadier Brigade, with both attacks meeting near the mountain village of Kaundorf. With the icy conditions making it difficult for tanks to maneuver, even on roads . . . .

Great game to used your US armour well
get in close and get fried (PF) - wait for panthers and be outdone
so lots of smoke and tricks
Cleared one flank well - but left a survivor that became the victory man in the last player turn - lesson of always remeber to complete your clean up!!

West Coast Rumble 2022. I had a plan, got distracted by a squirrel and abandoned my plan. With a lack of focus, Dave totally outplayed me on this one for a well deserved win.

As shown on IR#76. Americans made good progress but just couldn't make the last push. Panthers swung the battle but it's a nice, replayable scenario.

I divided my force equally amongst all three VC areas. Magnus went heavy north to try and first displace me from the Level 2 square. The rest of his men aimed to knock me out of 60AA3. He would find the challenge of moving into the snowy hills difficult. The arrival of my tanks on T3 was a much-needed shot in the arm, and his attempts to take AA3 were rebuffed, T4 saw me finally try and reposition my Board 41 men after he pulled back most of the men he had on guard duty to prevent just such a maneuver, but they would turn out to be non-factors in the end anyway. I conceded the square VC area during my T5, but my attempt to create a wall of bodies fell one hex short. He tried to use his last three remaining tanks to knock out one of my guardian Panthers. One mired trying to navigate the icy roads, one was knocked out by my Panther, and the last was destroyed by a PF. He then tried the silly endgame rush, but all his reachable infantry came up short. Not one of my favorite scenarios.

A frustrating but very fun match against Fabio. I had issues with my proud Yanks not being able to find their smoke grenades and usually pinned themselves in the process. As usual with 6 morale troops the US SMCs spent a lot of time rallying broken infantry, which put a serious case of erosion on the US momentum.
The Yanks still managed a solid drive again against 61AA3 but it fell only on US Turn 6 while the American screen facing the board 61 town was worn down and failed to stop a lone 548 back getting back onto board 41 despite its dash through US rifle fire and the 75 HE and MG fire from a Sherman.
The US tanks didn't bother to bring any Smoke along either and their SM8s stayed stubbornly empty but a Pz V was dispatched by a 105 HEAT round into the engine compartment. Three US tanks were still running by game end (oh for a seventh turn).
A well played game by Fabio who's infantry absorbed some serious amounts of FP a number of 20 +2 a pair of 30 +2s and a 40 +2 without breaking. His dice were not overly spectacular but they managed to come through at game end just enough to gain the win.
A scenario very much worth the time to play.

Good scenario. Unfortunately my opponent conceded at the end of turn 4 when we realised he had added an additional squad to his OB.

I had the attacking Americans in a gruelling playing of this one. Best laid plans ripped to shreds not with but after the first DR.
Skulk and defend the hill. About blew it w poor use of Panthers. Held on surviving HS took 20+4 and 6+2 shots last half turn to win. Tex2017

I set up only 1.5 squads with a leader on board 41 near an edge far from the Americans. They pushed in the direction of the hilltop village first, but sent two tanks towards my board 41 units to flank the hill. The 1.5 squads, however, tied up the two tanks for a few turns with PF threat and killed one of them. A PSK took out another Sherman on the central road to the hill. The Americans had a foothold in the village when the Panthers came on to seal the deal for the Germans.

I went for the board two 60 VC. The Germans over-defended a far corner of board 41. Two tanks hemmed them in while everyone else took board 60. Germans conceded after three Americanturns.

Close game. Americans looked to be getting all 3 VC fulfilled but the Panthers saved one and Germans hung on to the On/Adjacent VC hex in the last turn.
