2023-04-16 | (D) Ron Garcia | vs | Darryl M. | | German win | Quick scenario. I set up my German force with three squads, two leaders, two LMG's, and the MMG on the second level of building Q4. The rest of my forces were situated to fall back towards that building and O5. Not very worried about the partisans, I only put one 4-4-7 and a couple of concealments near the hill mass. My friend put his entire Slovak force around where the two boards meet.
LOS from the level two building isn't great, but I took any negative or flat shots from the forces in it that I could get. I only fired around 10 or 12 shots but they were effective. By mid turn two the Slovaks were hurting with several broken and a couple of casualty reduced squads. The nail in the coffin came when I took an eight flat PFPh shot at his 10-2, two elite and a broken unit in a woods hex near where the board meet. Before I rolled I jokingly exclaimed, "This is for the game!" and promptly rolled snakes. Random selection KIA'ed the 10-2 and one of the elite squads. Faced with half his force broken, dead or CR'ed, my friend didn't bother rolling the LLMC's and called it a day. He wasn't diced as I barely rolled the dice; it was just one of those games where just enough went wrong early and often that there wasn't much point in continuing.
My advice for the Slovaks is to make a wide attack to pin the Germans in place and give them more hard fire choice decisions. For the Germans, even with limited LOS from it, don't underestimate the advantage of that 2nd level building! |
2022-04-01 | (D) Rob MacGinley | vs | James Short | | German win | The Slovaks pushed thru teh entre of town into my in depth defence - then I brought the AA truck up the rear to block his routs etc |
2021-05-21 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Jimmy Engren | | German win | Slovak player was returning to the hobby. |
2021-05-02 | (D) walter mcwilliams | vs | Tom Kerney | | German win | Tom and I took a break from play testing to engage in this short fight. It was a horrid display of shooting by both sides, but the German's managed to keep it together long enough for the win. Tom chose VC option 3, Overall a good scenario on the wonderful board 68. Recommended! |
2021-04-04 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Hans Bugge | | German win | My second playing of this scenario, and more successful this time thanks to an improved defensive setup, a good dose of luck and some over-aggressive Slovaks. My opponent went for VC#3, delaying the partisan entry, and tried some risky CX runs with stacked infantry on turn 1. Unfortunately this ran into a couple of HIP HSs and they took serious losses. Although the Slovaks made steady progress from there, they continued to take losses, and despite lots of VBM freezes and close-range shooting with their tanks, they never had enough force to take the buildings they needed. |
2021-03-26 | (D) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås | vs | Mikko | | Slovak / Partisan win | The Rebels went for VC#1, flanking the village on the hill with their partisans while assaulting the village mainly from the left with their Slovak forces. One of the tanks brew up early, Melvin the tank held out to the endgame but only inflicted one moral check in the entire game, and Tuomo the tank had a little bit of effect. The Slovaks managed to get a 447+10-2 into the back VC building in their next to last turn. Very fun game! |
2021-03-17 | (A) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås | vs | Neil Brunger | | German win | I went for VC #3, trying to take the two closest buildings. A very bloody game followed, in which I managed to take one of the buildings, and would have taken the other building in the last CC if my wounded 10-2 + 1-3-7 + 3-3-7 could have eliminated a 447 and survived. It was not to be. Very fun and challenging scenario. :) |
2020-07-02 | (D) patrick palma | vs | Scott Holst | | Slovak / Partisan win
2020-05-15 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Gordon Jupp | | Slovak / Partisan win | Excellent scenario, I particularly liked the variable VCs with Partisan entry delayed accordingly. As the Germans I managed to shred most of his Partisans with HIP units and some fortunate shots, but the Slovaks were a much tougher proposition, particularly as the Germans have no answer to their tanks if they stay out of PF range. In the end it came down to the last DR on the last CC phase, and he got me! |
2020-03-27 | (A) Stephen Stewart | vs | David Douglas | | German win
2019-07-18 | (D) Rich Weiley | vs | Dave Longworth | | German win | Everything went right for me in this one. |
2019-03-22 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Darryl Lundy | | Slovak / Partisan win | This is a scenario I strongly urge you to play. Very deep, subtle and tournament reccomended. From the VC choice to HIP choice. |
2018-04-06 | (D) Jonathan Kapleau | vs | Richards, John | | German win
2017-10-04 | (D) Stephen dedier | vs | Holt, Jim | | German win | I like the scenarios that have multiple options for the victory as they make you think more about your strategy and adjust through the game. I managed a good fighting withdraw back to the main buildings. I had to keep forces in all the buildings to some degree until the chosen victory point was clear. I used my HIP units in two different buildings and that helped. It made my opponent search which held his units back and he stumbled onto one unit in the last turn. A number of tight CC helped me hold back progress. This is a fun scenario on both sides. I didn't get to interrogate anyone which was disappointing but I did invoke NQ. |
2017-09-10 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Luca Martini | | German win | It became pretty obvious when the Partisans entered as late as possible and the Slovaks methodically pushed their way through the Q building onto the O building what their VC was. This by no means made the threat of victory from them less real. When they did make their big move on the O building the 10-2 led his three AE squads armed with their remaining DC up the gut. Unfortunately for them they ran smack dab into the maw of a red hot AT gun which, by the end of that turn, turned all of them into a bloody pile of dead bodies. They regrouped for another assault, finally getting a foothold in the building from the north end while their partisan friends were pushing up from the south. The gun finally fell, but a valiant squad was holding out on the upper levels, shrugging off encircled MCs. Meanwhile the Germans pulled a couple of sneaky coups, sneaking the as-yet hidden AA gun's crew into CC with a tank, and a lingering squad in the east managed to recapture the Q building after it was mistakenly abandoned. The crew successfully dispatched the tank with the help of an ATMM. Meanwhile one of the two remaining Slovakian tanks (which had driven into the O building) managed to decimate an entire stack of Germans who had advanced into CC with a Slovakian squad (alas he too perished) with a ROF tear to match the earlier Germans AT gun. At the end, with neither side having much left, the Germans managed to keep hold of both the VC buildings. Great scenario and a fantastic game! |

2017-04-10 | (D) Lawrence Spangler | vs | Diane Spangler | | Slovak / Partisan win
2017-03-17 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Colman Quill | | German win | This was my Round 1 Game at the 2017 Kansas City ASL Group March Madness Tournament. My Slovaks made good progress initially and then got cut down in the objective area as the Germans prevailed in the various Close Combats. Fun game! |
2017-03-17 | (A) nathan wegener | vs | Doug Kirk | | German win | MM2017 swung my way early - had all 3 guns neutralized with only losing one tank. Infantry could not hold it together to get past German lines. |
2017-02-22 | (D) Chuck Dye | vs | Kevin Killeen | | Slovak / Partisan win | Could have went either way. Close game |
