In early May, the defenses in central Norway, much like the snow on the ground, were reduced to minor patches. In the district of Röros, a handful of soldiers struggled to keep communications with Sweden open. To secure this, they needed to ensure that the Germans would not be able to cross the River Glåma. While organizing local hunters to bolster their forces, the Norwegians received unexpected aid. Led by Tage Holmqvist, a band of Swedish veterans from the Winter War appeared, ready and willing to fight. This band and some of Norwegians, were ordered to defend Os. Soon, German forces approached across the broken terrain.

Great little scenario. Played in the mini tournament at Heroes. Germans got the tank which helps a lot, and the Bicycle group ( bikes less useful). Managed to scrape a win in the last turn. A good little scenario- nice and simple, which is all my brain can cope with

Germans stuck one hex too far away. Started blasting into a melee hex trying to clear it out. Would advance enough units into a final hex, just one hex short of winning though.

I set up to the west and the first reinforcements (group 3) joined them. Prep broke the Swedish MMG squad and ELRed their leader but the Norwegians killed the mortar crew (CR on 1MC). Advancing fire also CR/ELRed another Swede. After this there was not enough left in the west to halt the massed Germans. Turn 2 reinforcements (group 2) entered east to keep the Norwegians busy. I reclaimed the mortar but they were immediately broken by Norwegian DF. A Berserk squad kept the remaining Norwegians busy long enough for the necessary VP to stroll off the board unobserved on turn 4.

Germans managed to use the mortar to good effect and broke up both MMG positions. Then the tank came on and opened the door for the Germans to make strong advanced along the east edge and to the exit through P2 for the win.

Fun and quick-playing scenario, with potential replay value from the variable German OoB. I felt there were three key points in the game: 1) The Allies rolling gusts on their Turn 2 WC DR, which effectively eliminated the three smokes the German mortar got down on key positions before depleting, 2) Not getting the armored reinforcement group (got Group 2 on Turn 1 and Group 3 on Turn 2), and 3) Losing the 9-1 and 3(!) full squads to a green Norwegian HS due to a bad routing situation on Turn 3. These unfortunate factors, Jeff's skillful defense using ? and firelanes, and my MTR being placed one hex off from it's maximal location were too much to overcome for the Germans.

Started and finished in one session, this wasn't a bad little scenario. Germans don't have a lot of time, so they stormed across the valley in force after the mortar dropped a couple well-placed smoke rounds. Their first reinforcing group was the most infantry. Their last batch turned out to be more of the same, so no tank for them. Timely gusts blew away all the smoke during Allied Turn 2, allowing their MMG stack to bust and wound the 9-1 and accompanying squad that had pushed their way to the front line. This may have been the key the Allies needed to victory, as it allowed them to further reinforce the central woods to further stimy the German approach. Turn 3 was an absolute disaster for the Germans, as some ridiculosity in the rout rules forced the 9-1 and a full stack of squads to surrender rather than rout to the ADJ woods gully. By this time it looked extremely unlikely the Germans would be able to get anything off, let alone 7VP. But the mortar busted the MMG stack next turn, at least opening the door. When some CCs went against the Germans, going to melees, and the Allies lined the west with a literal wall of bodies that hope was dashed. With its variable OB and potential approach, this is a nice gameday or tourney scenario.

The German 81 MTR went on an rof tear on its first prep phase wiping out a large number of Swede units. But Swedes and Norwegians fell back well and they still had a chance, especially after generating a hero and battle hardening their MMG squad to a 548. German used VBP freeze to deal with them and managed the win. Game felt like it had lots of replay value with the variable German OB. The MTR really felt like the key weapon in this one, followed by the PZII. The cycles were useless.

Very close game with Swedes and Norwegians having a slight edge until near the end. I slipped a SMC and enough MMC through the M1/M2 woods to grab some buildings on the last turn for the win.
