The 129th Brigade had plunged into the dense woods with the mission to capture Bois Jérôme St. Ouen. The lead company became lost and ran into dug-in tanks supported by infantry. Meanwhile, B Company, guided by two members of the Resistance, encountered the enemy in a chateau on the outskirts of Bois Jerome, and captured it by midday.
Attacker: German (Elements of Grenadier Regiment 150, Infanterie Division 49)
Defender: British (Elements of B/4th Somerset Battalion, 129th Infantry Brigade, 43rd Wessex Division and elements of the 43rd Reconnaissance Regiment)
Chateau of Thick Walls in this game. Occupants survived 5 IFT attacks of 16 +4 and two direct hits from 75L HE with no results. My highlight was entering a carrier driving through a Marder hex stopping and unloading behind it and then taking it out in CC.

We diced for sides; after playing it, I wished we hadn't. German infantry with 3 AFV, 1 flak wagon try for selected buildings vs infantry reinforced by carriers, then by 3 AC in 1944. The AC can't be useful unless the Germans have started very poorly. I had the misfortune of a sniper recall on the MMG carrier before the infantry could remove the MMG. The British need some help in this one. When the AC entered, I was down to two buildings and 2.5 squad equivalents. I conceded soon after the AC entered, took up position and were destroyed.

This was one of those games where everything went sideways for the Germans. Still it went the distance. IMO, not a lot for the British to do except hang out in the houses, pass morale checks and blast anyone who knocks on the door. Not impossible for the Germans, but not easy task knocking the Brits out of stone buildings.

eASL open first round. Brits rolled lots of 2s and 3s and the British Sniper had fun picking off CE vehicles. The Germans were able to get some smoke, but eventually Malfed both guns by Turn 3. The Brits were able to hang on to one building hex.

Our first foray into Operation Neptune: this scenario didn't disappoint.
We both felt as though our sides were being slowly eroded. The terrain
is a bit claustrophobic and does not allow for a lot of long shots.
Rob chose not to dismount his Carrier HS...in hindsight that might have been
a mistake. The Marders are great AT assets, but a tad vulnerable. I fired some
AP at infantry early on (to save the HE7).
Our scenario came down to the last CC phase. Rob said that if this one isn't a 10,
what is? Still, I wonder if that is a statement about the scenario, or our specific
playing...
