German (SS)Partisan (ZOB)
Overview:
The day started as had so many others in the Ghetto with the SS marching in to exact their daily toll in the final “resettlement” of the Warsaw Jews. The roundups started as usual: with sirens, shots, screams and sorrow. But this day, fewer than usual heeded the summons to surrender. Suddenly, Emilia Landau, age 17, opened the unexpected battle by hurling a grenade into a cluster of SS from a rooftop. Incredulous, SS non-coms regrouped their forces to attack the house when into their midst, without warning, erupted a sortie from the ZOB headquarters bunker at Mila 18, personally led by commander Mordecai Anielewicz. His men, armed with Antique rifles, stolen revolvers, smuggled grenades, and Molotov cocktails quickly scattered the bewildered Germans. With yells of triumph born from years of torment, ragged Jews rushed along the street and scooped up the weapons of the fallen.Attacker: German (SS) (Sonderkommando Warsaw)

2024-03-28 | (A) Nate Gregg | vs | Chris Gregg | Partisan (ZOB) win (VASL Log) | It was probably a foolish decision, but I was determined to win via the Mopping Up VC conditions. Through turn 7 I had 21 buildings mopped up, and three in the works on Turn 8 which would have put me at 24 thru turn 8 with two for sure easy ones (P2 rowhouse and X6). Then suddenly, the flame in W5 (fortified), which had broken the Partisans previously occupying it, burst in a Blaze cause my 2 HS to break, one of which was to advance into X6 for Mopping Up the following turn. So much for that plan. My brother, and opponent, also let me know that the large building, V2, also had some HIPsters in it, so despite me probably winning the melee in Turn 8, my Mopping Up attempt in Turn 9 would have failed. ATTACHED LOG is my boxcars roll for fire spread in W5 Fortified Building. Mopping Up method is really really difficult. I set out on a mission to achieve it, and missed. Perhaps another 1/2 turn for the Germans would have been enough. And perhaps that's an errata idea: The Germans can elect the Mopping Up method of VC, but must do so at onset of scenario, but by doing so, make the game 9 1/2 turns in length rather than 8 1/2 turns.
2023-10-26 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Magnus Rimvall | German (SS) win | I like this scenario. The completely HIP defender setup is daunting, while the 1 ELR of the attacker potentially makes their force extremely brittle. Both sides have 8ML, which is always fun, especially as the defender where FPF is a real possibility. T1 was understandably quiet, with the Germans running onboard making sure to stay out of defender range. I have never seen a game of this won by mopping up, so the plan from the start was to expose the ZOB as quickly as possible and swarm them. By the end of T2 I had found about 1/3 of their force, and they took one of my HS prisoner (a must for the ZOB). T3 proved costly for me, losing the HS battle 3:1, but I had now rooted out about 3/4 of his force. T3 saw the tide start to change, with the ratio of casualties flipped to my favor 3:1 (including a leader, and HS captured in CC), but the dangerous part of crossing the woods/gully line would commence. And he had plenty more traps to spring on me as I did so, revealing all but one of his hidden units. But I didn't fear breaks, only K/KIA, and the bodycount finally tipped to my favor. When I eliminated 1.5 squads and his 8-1 for FTR on T6, and completely surrounded another squad, the total would soon be 16:8 in my favor and I'd be able to start pulling back, so Magnus conceded. Always a good game.
2022-12-29 | (D) Patrick Bonner | vs | Self | Partisan (ZOB) win | The map, sewers, and fact that the ZOB (Partisans) get place their fortified Location in any stone building gives this one a lot of variety in setup and approach. I only record my first play through. In that run, I didn't move the Germans fast enough. Setting up the ZOB with a couple squads up front to harass the Germans while simultaneously having a couple squads in the sewers looking to creep up into CC, really bogged the German advance down. But I really think I lost focus on the mission and let myself get focused on hunting the Partisans, rather than Mopping up the buildings. The Germans had enough troops that I could have split them up and mopped up a couple more buildings, which would have sealed the game. Score one point for delaying tactics.
2021-06-01 | (D) Tommi Lehtinen | vs | M T | German (SS) win | This was my first ever play with partisans and I made a critical misjudgment. Partisans never surrender by the RtPh method [A25.24], but that does not mean that they can’t be captured in CC. My opponent used this in great effect capturing the squads I had placed in front to slow German advance. As prisoners gets you double VPs, the Germans managed to accumulate over 10 VP quickly (without more than half of own losses), which then required partisans to change to an attack mode in order to cause casualties to the SS troops as their started retreating. Naturally this desperate attack failed. Final nail to the coffin was a German IFT snake eyes against a leader led squad. The partisans conceded on turn 7.

2021-03-07 | (D) David Garvin | vs | Loic Gourdon | German (SS) win | Loic is a new player, but don't let that fool you! He is quite a good player and only errs once in a while on a complex rule, but nothing that breaks the game. Plenty of fun and his attack was relentless!
2020-12-08 | (D) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Omid Mashregh-Zamini | Partisan (ZOB) win | Omids third game and really another teaching game. Switched sides to show different variants of offence and defence and tactics in a tricky scenario. Great fun!
2020-11-25 | (A) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Omid Mashregh-Zamini | German (SS) win | Omids first ASL game. Despite the somewhat repugnant theme, the scenario is really interesting. The lack of experience was balanced by elite level dice rolling and the game actually was a close call in turn 6 when the SS suffered casualties and had many broken units. A ZOB halfsquad was in CC with a SS squad and a 9-1 leader, rolled a snake, got a 8-1 leader which resulted in a bunch of dead germans and an unscathed ZOB halfsquad together with a new leader. In the end though, the germans managed to kill enough ZOB to get the game. Very well played by Omid.
2020-11-25 | (D) Omid Mashregh-Zamini | vs | Vilis Pavulans | German (SS) win
2020-08-03 | (A) Eric Topp | vs | Jason Nichols | German (SS) win | The ZOB had a forward defence centred around the L6 stone building and the M4 rowhouse block. The Germans were able to surround these and accumulate the 10 CVP required for victory.
2020-08-03 | (D) Jason Nichols | vs | Eric Topp | German (SS) win | My first ever ASL game against an opponent. Learned that my setup was too far forward allowing the SS to reduce my ZOB partisans piecemeal. Eric played well and if it wasn't for some fortunate dice rolls I would have been even more comprehensively beaten.

2018-01-20 | (D) Allen Evenson | vs | Richard Jenulis | Partisan (ZOB) win | Partisans made a Hero which really helped down the stretch. Slowed up the Germs enough to hold them back from getting the buildings and held on to enough CVP making the alternate VC all but impossible. German conceded final turn (GT9).

2017-09-17 | (D) Shaun Andrews | vs | Jeff Buser | German (SS) win
2017-09-09 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Shaun Andrews | German (SS) win | My opponent did a fantastic job of effecting half-sprung traps on me, luring me into range of his units by only revealing partial hex contents on multiple occasions. This was a decidedly dangerous tactic as eventually some heavily loaded areas were placed under concentrated fire, but he managed to extricate himself quite nicely with the help of some lucky rallies. Indeed the first ZOB casualties were not taken until Turn 4, while the SS were pushing their own CVP loss limit. By Turn 6 this cap was reached, making further attempts at corralling the ZOB a bit more dangerous. A well-positioned (but relatively sleepy) sniper helped the ZOB cause. In the end, the ZOB led the SS on a chase all the way across the board, finally succumbing at the end of Turn 8. Fun game with great play by my opponent.
2017-05-18 | (D) Ruben Rigillo | vs | Francesco Berucci | Partisan (ZOB) win
2017-03-16 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Bronson Barnhart | German (SS) win | Germans deployed like madmen and hit their CVP number by Turn 3. During their pullback they ran into a couple more traps, but by the time the ZOB conceded in the middle of Turn 6 the count was 15:3.
2017-02-14 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Jeff Buser | German (SS) win | Came down to the last turn!

2016-04-26 | (D) Bill Brodie | vs | Steven Bond | German (SS) win | Germans raced through the Partsans like a hot knife through butter. Fanatic troops in stone buildings, not a problem when every morale check for them fails.

2016-01-06 | (A) Dwayne Duval | vs | Kevin Duval | German (SS) win
2015-10-18 | (A) leo zhu | vs | flying7 | Partisan (ZOB) win | "18 MILA" from BV module which is contested between flying7(ZOB) and leozhu(German). German have cost 3 turns to mop up one by one until find the 1st hip enemy unit. VC seems harsh to German and they were stuck in a dilemma : kill more enemies or mop up more buildings? In the end of 5th turn,German only mopped up about 13 buildings and earn few CVP. In the 6th Turn, situation turnover after 3 CC happened, German kill 3 ZOB SQ and the CVP is 7:3 which means that only need take 3 point to win. However, ZOB change tactics quickly and add reinforcement to a melee hex and kill 2 German HS. Finally, German lose additional CC then lose whole game. It cost about 5 hours.
2015-06-01 | (A) Andy Waller | vs | Jeff Luce | German (SS) win | No real chance of mopping up all the buildings so a CVP grab was in order. Opponent lost after catastrophic MOL attempt followed by a catastrophic rally.
