2024-03-22 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Andrea Pagni | A | Russian win
2024-01-29 | (D) Douglas Leslie | vs | Jeff Howell | | Russian win | Took the Russians in this old classic against Jeff Howell. Russian artillery never missed a beat and did huge damage to the advancing Germans. One T44 survived a Panzerschreck hit before failing its mechanical reliability check and subsequently being destroyed by its own artillery. Another took down the German assault gun before going down in CC. The third helped break the German assault down the Russian left flank. With an artillery SR in perfect position to liquidate any attackers that tried to take the final Russian stronghold, Jeff conceded on Turn 4. |

2022-10-23 | (D) Craig Renier | vs | Dave Mareske | | German win
2022-10-21 | (A) Dave Mareske | vs | Craig Renier | | German win | No OBA for the Russians and an active GER sniper wounded two leaders, broke two squads and KIAed another leader. The RUS tanks fell one by one, mostly to PSKs. The GERs were able to overrun the defenders positions and prevent any counter-attack. Great scenario. Lots of options for both sides. |
2022-10-18 | (A) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | | German win | No OBA for the Russians, whilst my goliaths blew up the bridge and then an ISU being recalled X'ing out a low ammo shot all lead to a defeat for the defenders.
Great scenario though - has a distinct old-school feel to it, with a nice range of units and plenty of tactics at hand to each side. |
2022-06-28 | (D) Tommi Lehtinen | vs | M T | | German win | Russian setup was to lure the Germans to wooden building 20S6 and hit them there with OBA. That worked as such, but in the end the casualties there (only a 9-1 leader and a HS) were not enough.
Russian T-44s failed miserably. During the whole game they did nothing except created a berserk German squad which charged to destroy, with a panzerfaust, a second T-44 which was in a hull down position. The first T-44 itself being destroyed by a HS in a close combat. The third T-44 malfunctied its MA when trying to shoot a German infantry crossing a road. Now safe, the German squad changed it a target hex and in their new hex found the Russian OBA spotter and killed him before he managed to redirect the OBA to new German hotspot at 20X4. Had the FFE landed it might have made it possible to Russian to get back to the game, but I draw a red chit and that was it.
The close combats were not better either. They resulted pretty much equal eliminations, which was something the Russian did not afford. Especially bad was losing a 628 to a 338 HS at 23DD1 as it removed the threat for the German’s east flank allowing them to focus to Russian at building 20AA7, now that the T-44s supporting to support those Russian were destroyed (see above).
In addition, Germans did a marvelous rout denial move by releasing part of their southern bridge defense force to block the route baths from the 20AA7 building. Causing an elimination of the whole Russian Eastern flank.
The advance of the German was so fast that the Russian reinforcement were too late to change the balance and by turn 4 it was clear that the Russian force was too weak to get their foothold back at the victory locations.
Interesting scenario, but a combination of bad rolls on the Russian side and excellent strategic play by the Germans utilizing those bad rolls to the max, this ended being a somewhat one-sided match.

2022-06-28 | (A) M T | vs | T.L. | | German win | I managed a speedy attack, greatly aided by a successful Encirclement maneuver in Turn 3. Down to a single unbroken MMC in the Russian setup area, facing superior firepower and with few ways to improve the situation, my opponent conceded the game after German Turn 4.
I was admittedly aided by some fantastic IFT rolls during Turn 4 and my rolls against the tanks – I destroyed a hull down T-44 with an AFPh PF shot (an 8+3 TH roll with hull hits discarded due to HD) and another in CC with a HS (getting Field Promoted in the process). I initially miscalculated the position of my opponent’s well placed OBA Observer due to some LOS misunderstandings on my part and as a result was pummelled with some 120mm FFEs in the 20S6 wooden house. My flanking force lost its 9-1 Leader and a HS but was otherwise OK, could have been a lot worse.
In the south I blew up one of the bridges with a Goliath and managed to keep the enemy HMG from joining the fight. The ISUs did get across along with some of the 628 infantry, partly due to my blundering of some Defensive Fire opportunities by using a Fire Group which happened to Cower in the worst way possible.
I really liked the scenario, it has a lot going on with the Goliaths, OBA, limited Sewer Movement etc. The situation is interesting, allowing for some intriguing envelopment opportunities. Hand-to-Hand mixes things up, making the scenario feel almost like a PTO one at times. Highly recommended and one of my favorite scenarios so far. |
2021-09-02 | (D) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås | vs | Neil | | Russian win | The dice were totally unbalanced and the Germans broke, died and failed ELR whenever they entered the LOS of a Russian. Breslau fell and the German commander retreated to his HQ to drown his sorrows in Scotch. |
2021-07-14 | (D) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | | German win | Undecided until last Hand-to-Hand for German win. |
2021-07-14 | (A) Dwayne Duval | vs | Kevin Duval | | German win | Used German balance. A Goliath destroyed one Russian tank in turn 3 and the other became immobilized adjacent to a Russian setup hex. Pinned the crew that abandoned it in the last MPh. Lots of HTH CC to kill off the Russian defenders who just could not be pushed out of their defensive positions. Many Russian double one rally attempts added to the German difficulties. It came down to two CC hexes in the last phase for the German win. Fantastic scenario! |

2020-05-17 | (D) Jeff Waldon | vs | Paul Qualtieri | | Russian win | VASL |
2019-06-13 | (D) Jeff B | vs | John Malaska | | Russian win | A very strange opening to the game when NO rubble was created. I setup so the Germans wouldn't have any free shots at unconcealed units, basically giving the AA3 building away. Things immediately took another strange turn when it started raining. This prevented the Germans from laying any smoke. What shots they did have were effective, breaking two Russian squads and killing a HS, but they lost two of their own in a dangerous stack move. Per the script, they rolled both Goliaths to the east bridge and ran the rest of them to cover the west. Russian OBA was unusually accurate and ready to drop on a house full of Germans. The east bridge was blown to bits. Things were off to a banging start. The rain then became heavy and remained this way throughout the game. I thought this would hurt me in particular, but it really just hurt whoever was doing the shooting. A devastating Turn 2 probably sealed their fate when they lost four more squads and two leaders, most of these coming when the bridge guardians cracked to a man and were surrounded and rounded up. They still had both tanks HD guarded by a PSK, but 5.5 squads and a leader lay broken in or beyond the U2 building. Russians actually took to the offensive. A concession certainly could've been in order, but John pressed on to his credit and we some rollicking good fun up until the end. |
2018-12-31 | (A) Tom Abromaitis | vs | | | Russian win | An excellent scenario. Germans couldn't blow the bridges! |
2018-05-05 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Enrico Granata | | Russian win | I played AoD last time in 2006 wished I hadn't wait so long to put it on the table again.
Great scenario against a great opponent. The russian advantage was somewhat mitigated in our game since OBA put down a single SMOKE mission. Play it you won't regret. |
2018-02-17 | (D) Jonathan Kapleau | vs | Duenskie, Ron | | German win
2017-10-07 | (A) Jason Wert | vs | Ron Duenskie | | Russian win | Great match against Ron at the ASLOK Purple Rain finale. Ron used his artillery to great effect and stuffed the assault of the engineers. The main attack bogged in the first building complex, got rained on with 120mm and the Germans fell apart. Well played match for Ron for the win. |
2017-07-20 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Ryan Ellett | | German win | Two of the three Russian AFVs got knocked out turn 1, while Goliath #1 went off without results. Turn 2 saw the second Goliath blow up nothing but dust, so Pionere Companie would have to hold both bridges the hard way. The remaining Russian AFV was flamed allowing the German AFVs to close in unmolested. Meanwhile the Russian radio broke, was fixed, broke again, and was fixed, just in time for the main German assault to kick off against the large central building. Two rubbled hexes cut it in half though, which would prove to make for difficult hiding for the defenders. Russian OBA finally came alive and did some serious damage after an optimal placement, but the Germans had amassed quite an assault force and it was only temporarily slowed. The southern reinforcements were slowly being whittled away and had a rough time even getting across until late. By the middle of Turn 5 the last Russian holdouts in the north were eliminated, as was any realistic hope of success. A very fun scenario that, in our case, was hampered a bit some very lopsided dice. The Russians must have rolled 5-6 boxcars just in the last couple turns alone, in one case rolling three in a row, while the Germans had a fair amount of snakes. |
2017-06-27 | (A) Martí Cabré | vs | Juanjo Martinez | | Russian win | A good scenario but quite tough for the Germans. If the Russians manage to get the reinforcements in, it's almost impossible to move them away. In my case I blew a bridge with a Goliath but then my leader and squad guarding the second bridge got themselves killed by turning berzerk. This opened the way for the Russians. Meanwhile a lone Russian tank managed to fend off many German attacks of all kind (TD, PF, CC, PzSchreck) and that severly limited my attacks elsewhere. Finally, with only half the space controlled I conceded. |
2017-06-20 | (D) Jeremy Busby | vs | John Barkoviak | | Russian win
2017-05-29 | (D) Bill Brodie | vs | Steven Bond | | Russian win | Boy, what a battle, this one had everything! The German attack was aggressive, and was only held off by multiple intensive fire shots from the T44s, and lots of final protective fire by brave Russian squads. A mad dash on the last turn by the remaining German squads almost made it, but when the German player realised that he could not fire at a Russian half squad (which was the result of a previous k/2 IFT result), made him concede before the Russian last turn. A great game, slightly favoured the Germans. I had some luck, including killing his tank destroyer through a SHOCK result on the first turn. |
2016-10-08 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | | Russian win | Great, fun game with Goliaths, Arty, tanks and a ton of hardcore infantry. Three Heroes created during the game. Lots of great Hand to Hand combat, but my Germans gave the concession at the end of Turn 5. I just didn't have the force required to win at the end. |

2012-05-12 | (A) Richard Carter | vs | Stephen Mackintosh | | German win | was able to destroy one of the canal bridges with the goliaths. Had to prong attack. Even with heavy rain at end was able to hold off russian counterattack. |
