2024-01-01 | (A) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | | American win | I drew the G.I.s in this SL conversion (from R211), a small, urban infantry fight and golden oldie to start our ASL year! ELR 4 and SAN 5 partly offset only two MMGs and a single -1 leader (plus two 8-0s). I put two 666s in the woods as 'tripwires' chancing tree-bursts from the harassing fire bombardment (which only broke one 666 in a building). Jim feinted toward DD5 then pounced on X8. I consolidated to hold Z7 and all buildings west of the U7-Y8/CC7-GG6 roads, but Jim mopped up Z7 after the defending squads broke. After turn 3, I had 5 GO MMC left to hold 4 buildings (and two broken MMC in AA4). Rallying was tough with only two leaders left and moving anywhere risky with Jim's MGs covering the roads. Jim took the DD3 building on turn 4, and it came down to holding buildings AA3 and W4. I was saved by rowhouses having an upper level to rout into. Without a turn 8 PFPh for Jim to declare mopping up, A26.11 gave me the 'technicality' win. This one was fun but shows its age. |
2022-05-28 | (A) Robert Wiebe | vs | American | | German win | Germans had a two-pronged attack, again supported by a 9-2, HMG/MMG kill stack on a second-level building board 1. The West prong was made to the three rowhouses on that wing, while a smaller thrust was made towards the central building and the rowhouse to the East. Battle went back and forth but on the last turn, the Germans were able to secure that fourth building and win. |
2022-05-04 | (A) Robert Wiebe | vs | American | | American win | Germans approached through the heavily wooded area towards the main large building, supported by a 20FP kill stack in a second-floor building. This became the focus of the effort, which meant the objectives of capturing 4 or more buildings were unattainable as too many resources were poured into the attack. |
2020-08-04 | (D) Shaun Andrews | vs | A T Great | | German win | Every time I play this scenario it turns into a crazy slug fest. Multiple HOB, leader creation, Snipers gone wild, and that's not the half of it. Units were breaking only to rally and return to the fray. The Germans had a 3 LMG kill stack, that's right... a 3 LMG kill stack, running around creating havoc. An American half squad managed to take prisoner a German leader, a squad, and 2 half-squads all at the same time. Neither one of us was giving up. Needless to say the battle went down to the wire ending at the top of the 6th with the Germans Advance Firing and breaking my last defenders enabling him to obtain his four victory locations for the win. So much fun I forgot I lost!

2019-06-13 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Shaun Andrews | | American win | I setup almost everybody in stone buildings, most of these multi-level. The only unit I setup elsewhere was an 8-0 leader in the north to prevent the Germans running up concealed. Everyone survived the barrage unscathed except him. He was blown to bits by a CH. So much for that plan. So the Germans, not surprisingly, ran up to the tree line and concealed. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing for me as I stocked building Z7 with half my force, including both MGs. This was to be my Alamo. My plan was to deploy as much as possible and recycle units to the front to delay him as long as possible. This worked out well. He lined up most of his units east of the road and in the woods hoping for a safe crossing, but this never materialized. Meanwhile his two kill stacks were still stuck in the south after blasting my token defense of W8 into submission. I still had a pesky HS over there tucked away safely to prevent a mad stack dash. Turn 3 saw him give up on cracking my Alamo while everyone in the south but the HMG and 9-2 moved up to the W8 building. Left all by their lonesome, the 9-2 was eventually capped by a sniper and the HMG squad broken. The rowhouse was my friend though as he couldn't bear enough firepower on me to do any damage. Z6 Level 1 was a rally haven for me and I just kept recycling troops to the lines. A melee in Z7 caused me a little bit of worry that my line may crack, but it ended up lasting until the end due to my ability to reinforce it. It was finally time for him to risk the mad dash across the street through my eventual FL. Everyone that tried either died, broke, or pinned, until he had two last stacks left. The first made it across, only to break to a 2+2 shot. His last stack also made it across and, just as shockingly, broke me in AFPh with a 2+3 return volley. If he won the existing melee in U5 it would mostly likely be curtains for me as he had two unprotected building readily available across the street. Thankfully it continued and I was able to reshuffle some men to cover the north and south so that by Turn 6 he needed everything to go exactly right. Unfortunately for him, nothing went right at all and it was an American victory. Exciting stuff! |
2019-06-13 | (A) Shaun Andrews | vs | Jeff Buser | | American win | Had a blast! I came at the Americans hard and it looked like a breakthrough would happen. Some well placed fire lanes dwindle my forces as they tried dashing across the streets. In spite of getting a solid group across into the American's rear my opponent was able to do some tactical withdrawals and prevent those units from capturing any buildings. |

2015-03-21 | (D) Allen Evenson | vs | Devin Heinle | | American win | Americans lucked out and the Harrassing fire only broke a HS on the flank. It was a fun scenario that could have gone either way - the luck stayed with the Allied and Germans conceded at start of Axis turn 5 having taken one building. Roles reversed, I might have played it out but the chance were slim. Would play again either side. |
2014-02-22 | (A) Martí Cabré | vs | Santiago Penabella | | German win | A classic scenario where a strong attacker must push back a weaker defense. Harassing fire killed one American and broke another via a lucky Sniper. Then the Americans abandoned the central building and I took it fast and started to pound lead using the heavy MGs with good leaders. At the same time I pressed with HS to cross streets and kept broken GIs DM. Finally I got the four buildings with one turn still to go and no feasible American counterattacks. |
2014-02-12 | (A) Jason Varsoke | vs | LangstonB | | American win | 4xDM, 4xPin, 1KIA (8-1ldr) to harassing fire. Lost second leader turn-1 to sniper. Germans got bogged down by effective firelanes. Key victory in CC of a 666 vs 9-2+467 stunted a flank attack. American's retook VC building on turn 5 to hold the day. |
2012-10-03 | (A) Chuck Dye | vs | PHP | | American win | |
2012-10-03 | (D) Fred Ingram | vs | Gordon Jupp | | German win | Due to the bombardment, the Americans set up in the buildings. Suffered a pin on the left flank and a break in the middle. I set up a little too weak on the right flank, so that is where the attack concentrated. Some effective prep fire and aggressive movement on that side doomed the defense. Concession on turn 4. |
2012-09-15 | (D) Christopher Dawson | vs | German | | German win | Lost three squads to the harassing fire (two broke, one KIA), then three more broke from Prep Fire. Then my leaders failed to rally any of them. Bad rolls and bad luck, plus good play by opponent. Americans lost quick. |
