The Second Marine Raiding Battalion’s pressure from behind the Japanese was a constant surprise. After two weeks, Japanese morale was suffering. The Raiders morale was good because their efforts were bringing them closer to the main U.S. perimeter. They had been living off the land, but that night they stumbled upon a rear area supply depot.
