Overview:

The situation for the German Army on the North German plain was becoming very desperate. The river lines of the Weser, Aller, and Leine offered the last opportunity to conduct a defense based on obstacles before the Allies reached the Elbe. The men of the British VII Corps advanced with caution. The outcome of the war was inevitable; no one wanted to be the last casualty with the end so imminent. The 4th battalion of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry and the tanks of the 3rd RTR spent the morning of the 8th moving through the woods towards the village of Husum. The village was reached by the afternoon; no white flags were seen flying and the British troops prepared to enter the village.

2025-04-18(D) Paul Legg vs Chip Wertenberger British win
2025-04-18(D) David Garvin vs Paul Anderson British winFor Friday Night Fight Club. My Germans were initially doing well, but then his Wasps got hot (ha!) and ended up being essential to dig me out of those buildings. In the end, I had one guy good order, but the wasp rolled up, fired and got a 3. KIA. And it started a flame. Lovely time!

Great fun and Paul was a pleasure to play against

2017-05-21(A) Michael Rodgers vs Dave Howarth German (SS) winDave Howarth and I both wanted the attacking British with their flame throwing WASPs. I received them and Dave received the balance of an improved German leader. I sent one platoon and a Comet and a WASP up the middle. Everything else went up the right. I missed an turn one opportunity to position troops to stop the Germans from shifting their defense. Some far forward units that I thought were dummies were real and used up precious time to eliminate them. When the right troops cleared the woods and tried to approach the buildings, none of my AFV could provide any smoke, nor could I obtain smoke grenades. Dave had a HMG on level one that could shoot down the middle of the board and into the buildings when I eventually got there. We were both taking casualties. My two WASPs did not run out of fuel, but they were not being decisive either. High rolls were causing 1MC or 2MC attacks. Sometimes the Germans passed, sometimes they failed. The failing ones kept coming back later. Both Comets malfunctioned their MA during the game. Late in the game I went to extreme measures to make things happen. Some did, some did not and I conceded with one turn remaining because it was obvious I could not win.
2017-01-04(A) Paolo Cariolato vs Federico Corso German (SS) winVery close and tight game. Good scenario for tournament.
2015-11-03(A) Bill Brodie vs Steven Bond German (SS) winSometimes being aggressive pays off, and sometimes it doesn't. In one player turn I broke the MA of my one remaining tank, had one Wasp recalled by a sniper, and roller three boxcars morale check to 2 or less IFT shots!
Still, the only way I could win from the position I was in was to be aggressive, this time it did not come off. Well played Steve.
