Overview:
As Lt. Gaston LaLande and his platoon of the French-Canadian Le Regiment de la Chaudière advanced against the village of Carpiquet, they became pinned down by numerous snipers in the woods and houses ahead. With sporadic but murderous artillery fire coming in, LaLande knew it was time to lead.
