Overview:
At approximately 1330 hours on 17 September 1944, the Red Devils jumped into Holland as part of Operation Market Garden. Although initial resistance was light, heavy fighting ensued for days. The 508th established and maintained a defensive position along the main line of resistance which measured over twelve thousand yards in length against heavy German resistance. The regiment then seized Bridge #10 and prevented its destruction by destroying the apparatus for the demolition of the Nijmegen Bridge across the Waal River. This action contributed to the successful completion of the 82nd Airborne's mission. Meanwhile, the regiment also seized, occupied, and defended the Berg EN Dalkamp Hill mass terrain which controlled the Groesbeek-Nijmegen area. They cut Highway K, preventing the movement of enemy reserves, or escape of enemy along this important international route. Finally, the regiment withstood and repulsed the major enemy efforts at Wyler and Beek to penetrate the Division position and assault units to the north. While accomplishing these missions, the regiment captured 483 prisoners. During this period of combat the regiment suffered 139 KIA, 479 WIA, and 178 MIA. No Red Devils were captured by the enemy.

2017-08-19(A) Jason Wert vs Andrew Hershey German winMatch at the BBB 2017. As the German, dropped a platoon on the edge and with lucky hold by conscripts, was able to get US squad trapped in CC and start the rollback. Andy played a tenacious defense, gently pulling back and forcing the Germans to be aggressive. Nailing the ATG early with infantry, AFV's were safer and infantry used their numbers to get into CC with Amis for win.
2016-03-13(D) Michael Dorosh vs Colin Emerson American winNot a lot of options for the German attacker on such a narrow front. Won as US without taking a single casualty. ATG went in P7 and BAZ in Q2. Roadblock in U3. ATG managed to kill one tank and one HT in the same turn before they fired a shot.
2016-03-13(A) Colin Emerson vs Michael Dorosh American winWell not too much positive to say about this one. But that may have been from a very poor streak of luck with my dice rolls. This seems to be your typical attacker attempts to flush out concealed units from stone buildings and throw in the standard HIP Antitank gun. Seems balanced on the infantry side but then you realize half your forces are 2nd line and Conscripts, going up against Paratroopers dug into the buildings. The 57L Antitank gun is almost guaranteed kills when the armor of the German tanks is 4, the halftrack is 1. Best armor on the German side is in the converted French Char Bis. However it is dangerous to stop this thing as you may never get it moving again(red movement point). Germans really don't have much in the way of smoke capability with only 3 Elite squads having a 2 smoke exponent. I had two 30FP attacks do nothing to the Americans. Dice rolls seem critical in this one. If the Americans roll extremely poorly, then the Germans could roll through. That's probably the case based on the archive record.
2015-11-11(D) Dave Mareske vs Scott Martin American win
2014-09-25(D) Jeff B vs Daniel Soukup American winThe Germans made a strong push at the end, but a captured tank ensured an American CVP victory.
