Overview:

An encircling force, the Chinese 114th Regiment with the 6th Field Artillery Battery, was sent circling south to cross the River Tanai at Kantau. The Chinese regiment collided with the Japanese in a series of sharp actions along two small creeks. The jungle made it difficult for the Chinese to organize and coordinate their attacks; the supporting 6th Battery could not even take part until fields of fire were cut. But as this arduous task was underway, infiltrating parties of the Japanese 55th Infantry Regiment surrounded the battery. The 3/114th, charged with supporting the guns, was split into four fragments, no two of them in contact. The Chinese gunners were forced to fight to save their guns, and themselves, alone.

2023-04-28(A) Martí Cabré vs Pedro Pastor Chinese winWith the Japanese I attacked throught the mostly clear left flank, but the Chinese defenders rolled several 2 and 3 first firing killing four of my squads. His own MMG survived 4 MC with a 7 morale squad, allowing it to fire too much. Even so, I managed to do the whole flanking, capture and destroy the first gun and finally banzai to get the other 2 guns, I managed to capture and destroye the gun on the right flank and in the one in the center we did hand to hand melee for two turns and we both throw everything in. He rolled low to kill all the Japanese, thanks to a Chinese dare death squad and I lost for this last roll, with zero Japanese units surviving the scenario. At least they did not take the dishonor home.
2023-03-19(D) Rob Schmitt vs Kevin Bradshaw Chinese winKC March Madness. I was Chinese defender vs Japanese attacker. 3 Art guns are the victory condition. The Japanese attacked to my center and right. My Chinese IIFT shots were very lucky throughout. I DMed his scouts and then stripped his squads as they closed in for CC. The Chinese did well in CC and stopped several attacks cold. Japanese conceded due to loss of forces.
2022-05-22(D) Pascal Boileau vs Serge Doba Chinese winA very nice and furious scenario. Around 75 to 80% of the initial OB of both sides disappeared during the game... At the end, it was really closed but the Japanese lost too many troops in the three first turns and were unable to fulfill the VC.
2022-05-22(A) Doba Serge vs Pascal B Chinese win
2020-08-27(D) Chris Anthony vs David Garvin Chinese winIlluminating Rounds tournament. Another slug-fest with both sides losing most of their forces. The last MPh of turn 7, the Japanese attempted to rush the remaining Gun. Gun crew and two Chinese squads killed off the last charging units at point blank range. Very close and exciting game.
2020-08-26(A) David Garvin vs Chris Anthony Chinese winWhat a match. My Japanese went in on my right and swept across and came within a hair of taking the final gun. We both had some pretty good and timely shots. Lots of fun!
This was for the Illuminating Rounds tournament.

2020-08-18(D) Simon Staniforth vs Richard Webb Japanese win
2020-08-16(D) Dwayne Duval vs Tom Repetti Chinese winIlluminating Rounds VASL tournament round 1.
The attack died out in Turn 6. There were not enough Japanese units left to take the third Gun after the final Banzai attack which went well for the Chinese defenders in CC.
2020-08-04(D) Gerry Proudfoot vs Martin Barker Chinese winThis a controversial scenario and I gave it a 'very good' rating due to the classy play of Martin. Martin's attack brushed through the centre of the Chinese line to within two hexes of the middle gun position in just three turns while breaking five Chinese squads and killing a sixth in CC. A Chinese win was achieved only because enough infantry with SW made it back to the guns for stand. The scenario ended in Japanese Turn 6 when the guns and infantry killed or broke the Japanese assault on the eastern gun position adding to heavy CC losses earlier. With too few troops and time left to clear up the other position the game was called at that point.
2020-07-31(D) Dave Mareske vs Dave Ramsey Japanese winFirst round of the Illuminating Rounds Virtual Tournament. The Chinese defense could not even trade even in close combat, which needs to happen for the defense to have a chance. Most defensive fire remained ineffective and the Japanese had an easy time moving through the jungle.

2019-03-15(D) Dave Mareske vs Mike Bistodeau Japanese win
2018-06-16(A) jon smith vs chinese Japanese winJaps used assault moves and advances to maintain concealed and gradually worked forwards on a broad front.. the 10-0 leader took a demo charge and threw it to take out a Chinese mmc without effect on himself, the elr2 for Chinese was brutal and once broken units usually elrd as well... the jap mortar worked the left flank and pushed the Chinese off the jungle edge giving space for further jap units to push without taking fire.

several small scale banzai charges served to take out key units and once holes in the Chinese line appeared further japs were able to sneak round.

Even with 3 snake eyes on shots from first 5 attacks the Chinese couldn't quite slow the jap enough, but just as the japs reached the gun line the guns opened up and with ROF took out several jap mmc in a blistering pointblank hammering... things were suddenly tight for time... came down to 2 jap mmc versus a single surviving Chinese mmc for the last gun... japs got it!

2016-09-01(D) volker holloh vs Alan Chinese win
2016-04-10(A) Jim Kloss vs Bob Eury Chinese winDespite using DC heroes and banzai, the Japanese just didn't have enough time or units to cover the distance between the widely dispersed Chinese gun positions.
2016-02-01(A) Alberto Griffa vs Darrell Wright Japanese win
2015-02-03(A) leo zhu vs Erwin Lau Chinese winIt's the first time to use JAP in PTO.If there is a additonal turn I will win. Thanks for Erwin to teach me so much about PTO.
2014-07-02(A) Jeff B vs Daniel Soukup Japanese win6 hrsThe Chinese guns were a non-factor due to the prohibitive terrain, and the Japanese had plenty of PTO cover to get in close and apply their deadly CC skills.

2014-05-17(A) Miikka Sohlman vs Matti Holsti Chinese win
2014-03-08(A) Raoul Duke vs CB Japanese winA fantastic scenario. Came down to a turn 7 rush of the final gun by a DC Hero, which broke all units in its target hex, allowing me to advance in for the win.
2013-12-01(A) Andy Beaton vs Jonathan Kay Japanese winJapanese hand to hand skills were the deciding factor in this one
