German (SS)American
Overview:
Christmas Day found the American garrison at Bastogne surrounded. The Germans marked the holiday with an assault on the hitherto quite northwestern perimeter with Bastogne as the goal. Kampfgruppe Maucke split up at dawn, with the smaller element moving north to bypass Champs. It unknowingly advanced to a collision with B and C Companies of the 502nd Parachute Infantry. . .
Attacker: German (SS) (Panzergrenadier-Regiment 115 and Panzer-Abteilung 115, Panzergrenadier-Division 15)
Defender: American (B, C and HQ Companies, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and 705th Tank Destroyer Battalion)

2018-03-28(A) Jeff B vs Phil Wentworth German (SS) winMy opponent and I decided to switch sides and I tried my hand as the attacking Germans. His setup looked fairly similar to mine, with most of the US infantry clustered amongst the central woods and a couple outlying units on each of the flanks. Who knew where the tanks were. I decided to make the standard north edge push behind the hedge. Both his tanks turned out to be in the south, so he brought them both onboard to reposition his first turn. One made a bold move to go hulldown behind the wall. Had he survived it would've made for a nice position but, alas, he did not. The other tank positioned itself behind the hedges awaiting any further German push from the north. I swung two tanks around to the southern side along with a squad and LMG as protection. The rest of the men and vehicles inched their way forward behind the hedge. My plan was to have the tanks lay smoke cover and advance the infantry forward to try and take out his last tank with PFs, but I got a bit careless with one of my southern tanks and ended up in LOS of his Hellcat. Not wanting to leave him hanging out to dry, I moved up another tank behind the hedge. His Hellcat still had not shot as he was facing north and knew I would probably try and move another tank in its scopes to triangulate on him. He blasted the first that tried such a move and maintained ROF. But in shooting at the second tank he MALFd his MA and it was all but over at that point.
2018-03-26(D) Jeff B vs Phil Wentworth American winFinally got to play this scenario to its conclusion after having started it with another opponent years ago. I was the defending Americans just like I was back then. My opponent this time around was much more aggressive. He entered en masse on the southern edge and it was obvious he would be going for a quick exit. This is probably the same tactic I would've tried. It was apparent from the get-go that, even in motion, his tanks were a force to be reckoned with if my infantry got caught in their sights. His abundance of SWs, long range for his squads, and my lack of winter camo would definitely make shifting my defense a somewhat dicey prospect. I only repositioned one tank (as it was stuck facing north) after his initial move, leaving him to guess where the other (more suitably positioned one) might be. I moved it safely behind the central woods mass where it could play southern watchdog protected by my infantry. He got a quick lead on CVP, but all it would take was me to knock out one tank to turn the tables on that. Turn 3 he made his big push for the exit, leaving his infantry behind in the snowflakes. Each of my tanks knocked out one tank that round and I had one bazooka-toting HS in position at the goal line. So all I needed was two of these units to knock out a tank and he would be forced to concede. My bazooka did his job. One down, one to go. The next tank he moved was hit as well - but with a dud! He had a smokescreen of burning tanks to move behind so there was no guarantee of a hit, but any hit would most likely do the job. He managed to get three tanks off board. All he needed was one more, but I had two tanks left to do the job. The first one managed another hit and it was over. Not sure this is the most exciting scenario due to it primarily coming down to the dice.
2017-06-07(A) patrick palma vs miguel molina German (SS) win
2017-02-10(D) Gordon Jupp vs Simon Church American winVASL. Simon made a charge down the US right but the M18s were hot and had taken out 3 German AFV and some riders by T4 so we called it...
2016-09-21(D) Bill Brodie vs Steven Bond American winThe SS are tough! Luckily I had an armoured leader who could hit anything. Took out enough German tanks to stop him getting a win (just)!
