Breaching the Devil's Playground	Good scenario. Dennis did a good job with his fortifications to funnel me into kill zones. In the end, I had 9 points but only 1 GO squad in the victory area. One squad went Berserk, a couple others broke with low odd fire attacks. Close game.	RJenulis

Seoul Saving	Setup Brit stacks in I5,O7,X3,W5. 10 Trip Flares left and 10 Trip Flares right. Now..........All your guys can now move at first illumination from Trip Flares or Leaders in the center with Starshells. Now you have a least a chance because otherwise the Chinese will simply walk around your NoMove defenses and walk off for a win. Now move out of those Fortifications and attack one of those 3 enemy groups. With enough inflicted pain on the Chinese you can walk off and perhaps be able to win this. Not liking this scenario much but it is a novel setup. Sitting back in the Setup Fortifications seems a sure loser.	nekengren

The Cost of Non-Compliance	The Russians sped up the right flank catching most of the Germans on their left. They were able to get a couple of squads on board 76 by turn 2 plus the BT tanks. This was enough to give the Germans some headaches getting back to protect the buildings. Tank destruction was pretty even, but the Russians ended up with more buildings than it needed for the win. Some notable events were one of the KV-1 tanks broke every weapon it had, including its RMG, it was eventually recalled. The other KV-1 died to a CH from the 105. The Germans defense was set for a left flank attack and then had trouble shifting the defense. One of their 37L AT guns broke and then rolled a 6 on repair. It was a fun scenario with definite replay ability.	dmareske

Axis were sure of their "secured" win until the Russians double-checked Stone/GL Locations still available ... both missed one Location on SSW edge (easily gained by Rusian MPh) which threw the last Turn into total chaos, which is FUN in reality and emotionally realistic .. ! ... Tin Men In Tianmen	My Nationalist lost initiative but that did not matter too much. There were a couple quick CCs that seemed to push the direction in the Communists favor, but the west buildings fell in turn 4 and my tanks went to support the East side. Eventually the East side came down to no Communists left as well as they tried to make a final push. CC, especially when we went HtH was very brutal, racking up lots of losses on both sides.	dmareske
This Is Where We Stand	Chinese highly favored here. Swarms moving up hill at night and just too many to stop since they all stripe. This is fun if you look at USA trying to stop this assault in any manner. Very high rules overhead with NIGHT and CVPA with EARLY WAR Bugle stuff. Breakthrough in the Arctic	I sent my 4-5-8s through the brush on board 6b towards FF12 and west side of 3a village. 6-2-8s and 9-2 came up K and N hexrows, with tanks at E and L to suppress the Steeple. Luck was very swingy for both sides, with the Russians breaking every MG in the OB, and losing a KV to Malf Recall. But the Germans had a Fanatic 4-6-8 go Berserk in DFPh of German Turn 5, and thus was unable to advance into M8 and prevent the Russian "at the end of any Game Turn" sudden death win. Seems a tiny bit slightly pro-Russian as the Reds have time, morale and FP. But lots of fun, and Rich was both excellent and friendly.	ubertripp
Breakthrough in the Arctic	Played in Friday Fight Night for my debut appearance. Lost both tanks in turn one (one to a panzerschrek and the other to recall after breaking its MA but managed to grab the necessary buildings with the surviving infantry to get the win for the Russians. One the 628s get into the buildings, they are tough to stop. Thanks to John for an enjoyable game played in a relaxed atmosphere.	Dougban
Breakthrough in the Arctic	Friday Night Fight Laurent elected to split his force slightly favouring board 3a each supported by a KV. The western attack was stalled by my 468, mmg and 8-1 in 6bX15 and a squad in 6bEE13. Meanwhile the eastern attack made cautious progress against what was my weaker flank but suffering just enough breaks and pins to allow my forces to hang on. Because his forces were widely dispersed Laurent conceded during my defensive fire in the Russian turn 5 DFPh feeling he did not have the necessary forces to take the three victory buildings. Bloody Burgberg	Coming from the World Championship, I thought this might be a good scenario, but I was disappointed. I agree with Mike McGrath's view in Journal 16 that it is pro-American. The firepower and smoke capability of the Americans is just too great for poor-quality German troops. I ignored the eastern level 4 hilltop and chose to set up my other pillboxes next to the 3+5+7 one, with PFZs in front, and wire to the south. The Americans attacked on a broad front, moving slowly but steadily forward, and I was simply unable to stop them anywhere (some poor DRs didn't help). I conceded at the start of Turn 6, with the Americans about to achieve all three of their VCs (where they only needed two of them).	Andy_Bagley

Initial Skirmish	Some smooth shooting by the 37mm INF gun led to an early lead by the French that they never let go of. They seemed to have the advantage on dice rolls, and the Germans simply lost too many units and were unable to rally units when they needed it most. An interesting, fast scenario, but one plagued by the same issue as many other small scenarios - units dying too fast can close the door quickly on a hopeful player.	Jobbo_Fett

Rally Point	Tight and dicey. The few MCs the Germans were able to get on the US resulted in Pins only and the one break the US rallied right away. It was a fun small engagement but we both agreed that a single successful sniper could change everything. Germans had four chances but did not get a one.	dmareske

Kenny's Attack	The American were able to sweep down the West side through the Bocage with minimal loses while on the East side of the road the American were continually whittled down. The American were able to encircle and break the last remaining American squad and leader on the Defensive fire phase of the American turn 5	slunts
11th Company Counterattack	Played solo, first time with RR terrain so I might've misjudged some LOS. Still, most of the action took place on the south side of the rails. The Russians set up mostly far back in the two hills with wooden buildings, with only one squad and their ATR waiting for the Finns in the woods. The Finnish tanks never ran out of ammo and, actually, never missed a TH shot. One of them was almost wrecked by the DC, but the Position DR missed the AFV by one pip. A broken Russian squad rolled snake eyes, becoming Fanatic and creating a Hero. By this time, the Finns were in normal range and thus the tide seemed to turn in favor of the Russians, but eventually most of their troops were broken by the unforgiving 20 FP shots from the tanks, leaving just one Russian squad and a leader in the last turn. These brave men pulled through PBF from three locations, and survived CC by one pip in both final Player Turns. Very fun and quick scenario.	mestravis
Crossing Chaos	It’s a river crossing, so expect it to be tough. Although it seemed possible in the middle after getting some troops over, many broke and follow-ups got pinned on the bridge. As the Germans, you have to get a credible force across by turn 3, if you don’t you’re screwed.	LtDan
Simple Mission	Tight scenario - In the beginning it looked like a cake walk for the Germans but with the reinforcements and Brits Shocking one of the tanks with the ATR it came down to the wire. The Shocked tank went UK but was fine on Last German turn --- just in time to roll off. Otherwise, Last 2 german VP (a HS and a LDR) would have had to face murderous fire to exit on last turn. Roadblock, DCs, and FT ended up being pretty much non-issues thist time. Assault Engineer Smoke Grenades did help Germans cross some open ground without problems.	asevenson
Zwarts' Madhouse	The Germans had the advantage through lack of LOS and bad IFT rolls by the Dutch. Combined with great IFT rolls for the Germans, the balance of power was quickly swayed to one side. As the defenders broke and became prisoners, the German snowball continued to grow and eventually could not be slowed down. By the last turn, the Dutch had an effective fighting force of 1.5 squads and a leader, none of them were in the same hex and the Full Squad was promptly broken, forcing the walkover win.	Jobbo_Fett

Lingevres-Execution	I set my defense up very far forward. Too far forward. The dice were with me early and my opponent could really take advantage of my arrogance. I killed two of his AFVs right away and then in turn 2 he advanced 3:1 into CC with a 4-4-7, he got ambush, withdrew into a gully and burned a Firefly in the next Prep despite being pinned. We played the CG version of this which has slightly different VC, so around turn 6 when I thought I had the game pretty tight, Aaron informed me that I was an idiot that couldn't read and it became obvious that he was going to win. I did hold him to 2 CG VP and played it out to the end, so a moral victory was had against a top opponent. But overall, his use of smoke and deployment was overwhelming as he seemingly had 20 HSs running around wreaking havoc. Super fun scenario, really great guy and top notch opponent.	tatumjonj

Last Chance Breakthrough	Not much to say about this scenario. My Partisans just ran straight at the Germans with predictable results. But the German 9-1 and MMG squad were eliminated by Turn 2. The Partisans actually had 3 squads within normal movement of exiting. At the start of German Turn 2 - the Partisans had inflicted 8 CVP and had the aforementioned squads ready to hit the exit for the three squads and 14 total CVP. Not a win of course, but way better than I had expected...but of course it didn't happen. Dan went on a rate tear with his 75 and wiped out everything in its front. Then my 3 squads waiting to exit in a house were hammered. Then the ridiculous 8 squad reinforcements were coming on to finish me off. Honestly...too tough for the Partisans.	grumblejones

East Wind	We gave the Russians the balance in this one based on ROAR results, but this probably wasn't necessary. The Germans suffered heavily from extreme winter, with unlucky DRs breaking down several of their guns on the first shot, and hindering the movement of units which started on the flanks. German firepower was also hampered by heavy snow for much of the game. As the Russians, I went for a strong attack in the centre and used my tanks to keep German forces on the flanks in check, which worked pretty well. Germans conceded on Turn 6, by which time three of my tanks had already exited and lots of infantry was about to leave too. A fairly comfortable Russian win, although I certainly had the better of the DRs.	Andy_Bagley

Better Than Nothing	As the Russian, I think the best choice is to start Turn 1 with a Human Wave, which I didn't do. I tried to fire Smoke with one tank and discharge with the other; both failed. Thus, all units were exposed to FFNAM and FFMO for most of their movement. The little cover they could get was in woods, which in turn got airburst by the German mortar. Also, smartly spread German squads meant that PFs are menacing almost anywhere in the board. At the end of the second Russian turn, victory was conceded.	mestravis
Disaster at Ypenburg	chose to drop airbone in fields north and south of airfield instead of a direct drop on the dutch occupied airfield in attempt to overwhelm them. That preserved more forces to gather SW and approach more gradually. However, that leaves the Ju-52 transports ( using glider rules) to be shot up upon landing. survived that event with more troops than expected. In the end, Germans had more VP than dutch on airfield and were now on defensive to prevent dutch reinforcement to make it into the VC zone.	rangercote

Savnik	Turn 1 - the Partisans got in some good licks, but after that it was all Prinz Eugen all day long. The SS took their 9th building on Turn 5 and I was down to a single 3-3-7, so that was game and a decisive German victory. Dan's dice were hot and my were stone cold at the end. Tough enough to do much with 3-3-7's...but tougher still when you rolls 11's and 12's...	grumblejones

Last Defense Line	This is an interesting scenario, as the French won't know the randomly assigned German VCs. While it's predominantly a infantry vs. infantry fight, things are made more interesting by German OBA and French INF guns. As the Germans, I drew the "get >=12 CVP" option for Victory. So, I had 8 turns to try to close with the French, kill and capture some, and not let any prisoners escape. I could lose every unit in my OB except for the necessary guards and still win. The Germans have a lot of Open Ground to cross, and two hills that can cover the approaches at long range. The French Lt Mtr is a particular pain, as the only cover on the approach is woods and a bit of grain. The Germans have a 10-2 and can build a MMG/LMG kill stack (which I did). The Germans also have to decide between HE or SMOKE OBA. I lost a lot of guys to deadly French mortar fire until the OBA quieted it. French small arms fire was deadly accurate and combined with my Casualty MCs and Malf'd MGs, it was very frustrating trying to close with enemy. Phil's fallback defense was expert (as always) and I just couldn't really bring good (non-OBA) firepower to bear until Turns 5 and 6, as I hit his main line of defense in the board 3 village. There, with French fire bolstered by the INF guns, the German casualties continued to mount. But aggressive movement of the 10-2 (and Phil probably should have had this particular stack fall back once more) meant that I had good chance to capture 1.5 squads and a 8-1 leader, for failure to rout and/or CC capture. Doing so would mean I had 13 CVP. The 10-2 rolled TOO WELL, killing a full squad, but not breaking the leader and surviving HS. Those were captured in CC, but it left me 1 CVP short at the end of my Turn 6. The goal now was to gain one more CVP and keep hold of the prisoners. The next French Prep Fire, an INF gun got a K/2 on the 10-2 stack, Casualty MC wounded the 10-2, and broke all the German squads broke, but the prisoners survived. It looked like the French could free them, so I conceded. I have a nagging feeling that I should have played it out to see if I could get that one more CVP and held the prisoner, but it was late. Welcome Back	The Germans sent most of their forces down the flanks. On the left they were slowed significantly by the American FT squads, eventually tying them up in an extended Melee. On the right they almost broke through, exiting 9 VPs despite withering HMG fire. It came down to the last squads on the left trying to make it past a 3 squad+HMG+10-2 leader kill stack at point blank range in the open. First squad vanished after a (predictable) KIA result. Second squad survived successive K/3 and 4MC checks without pinning with a 3 and then a 2, giving the Germans the win. Dice gods had their finger on the scale for this one!	ifoxen

Riverfront Property	My Russian setup was poorly thought out. I placed the MMG on the hill in the open, within range of the buildings. Of course Hugh set up a kill stack on the first level of the buildings and took out my MMG on the first turn. The rest of my squads were strung out and the old saying is applicable here, "He who tries to defend everything defends nothing". Hugh's armour was ineffective, losing one to a bog roll and one to a well placed ATG shot. However, his infantry was able to maintain local superiority in firepower and work its way steadily towards the objective. Even so the fight went down to the last half-turn where I had one H/S in a trench that broke to Hugh's prep. This was the last straw and the Germans had no other issue with occupying both trenches. All Down the Line	Cautious British advance with maximum FP kept pushing defenders back until most were broken, then last two turn rush off board.	Kydder
Lost Opportunities	Germans began the game by putting some smoke with their Marder down the road going to board 1. The other two tanks moved on the upper and lower edges. The infantry was rushed, controlling the four closest buildings by turn 2, but then had the difficult task of holding on for the rest of the game. The three tanks eventually collapsed under the AT gun and numerous American BAZs. Both sides' mortars had long ROF-fueled fire sessions. Germans lost on turn 5 due to broken units.	mestravis
DeGaulle Counterattacks	An interesting tactical scenario that tests the German player's thoroughness for defense and the French player's elan. Mines can be exchanged for AT variants, and the guns given have a small chance at success against the French behemoths. Planning killings zones, and subsequently hoping that your air support can deal a decisive blow. Fun to play, although perhaps more as a training scenario.	Jobbo_Fett
Franzen's Roadblock	German luck was set on high. The Tiger knocked out both Comets. A Faust took down the Stuart. The Armored Car exited successfully, but the infantry were hammered and on Turn 4 the CVP cap was hit and that was game and a German victory.	grumblejones
Desperate Defense	I kept him at bay for a while, then he flanked me and captured buildings. My last minute failed charge left him with the winning margin. Watch the flanks.	cinnabar
Armageddon Begins	Reversed roles from last encounter. The Poles set up their AT guns far back down the road, holding their fire for several turns until they became relevant. The Germans marched unforgivingly, eliminating several Polish units for failure to rout, but the ATRs and ATs wrecked 5 tanks, leaving smoke in some important crossroads. Eventually an AT crew abandoned its post and defended the buildings in the west, and a failed German MC sealed the Polish victory in the last turn.	mestravis
Brave Little Emchas	First Deluxe scenario, played solo. I found it hard to see the "big picture" and probably missed a few open LOS the first turns until the action concentrated. I made the Russians go for a hard offensive which resulted in the loss of two tanks in the first turn by the German AT that was guarding the main road into board a. Although the Russian infantry controlled all stone buildings in board b by their second turn, the German vehicles and high FP from upper level buildings in board a proved too strong. The Russians had to give up the plan to assault the big building and concentrate in keeping the stone buildings, but it was too late. Eventually the Germans managed to eliminate all Russian units.	mestravis

Road To Merdjayoun	The British defense was spread out among the hills to slow down the Vichy advance. With the first French in view, the British called for offboard mortar support but they were used elsewhere. The French attacked strong and were able to eliminate sequentially the different nests of resistance with the help of the French mortar. The 2 pounder AT guns were not that much efficient to pierce the R35 armor. Only two of them were eliminated. The French were then able to wipe out the first two lines of defense and exit two R35, enough for victory.	lt_steiner
Gallic Counterpunch	Lots going on in this. Gary always gives the players something to think about. I think this one has a sudden death each game turn and a VC point scoring that is mostly clear but almost impossible to keep track of during the game (stone buildings worth their hex count, 3 points for 6 other hexes and CVP). Silent Night, Deadly Night	Germans successfully assaulted the hill on Board 46 after the American 8-1 and MMG rolled an 11 and then a 10 on Subsequent, which broke the sustained fire MMG. By Turn 3, the Board 42 hill mass was free of Americans. The Germans moved forward carefully to avoid granting the Americans Freedom of Movement. The Germans managed to get 9 squads in buildings and then managed to secure the F10 hill, which the Americans had moved to on their final movement. The Germans have to be vigilant with regards to the Board 64 F10 Hill.	grumblejones
Mountain Marines	My Americans pushed hard on our right, with 9 squads east of the Stream. [The Stream (B20) exists in this scenario, as the SSR only replaces Water Obstacles (B21).] I had 3 squads and all the Dummies in the center, and 2.5 squads on the left. Left flank was to threaten the 3 buildings on/at the hill, and the center was to keep German forces from reacting to my right. The scenario has variable VC, with the game ending as early as Turn 4 if the Americans can take and hold 4 buildings. The German 4.5 at-start squads were stretched thin across the length of board 86, and I fell on them pretty hard. On the right, I pushed very hard. American's broke as usual, but I found the mined buildings via Search, and was able to advance in capture safely. My Turn 4 was a rush for buildings, and I got two on the hill and three in the village on the right. The Germans were unable to take any back and the game ended. The Germans have a lot of ground to defend until their reinforcements arrive. Making good use of the MGs and Fire Lanes is essential. The Americans do have a lot of Open Ground to cover on board 86 and only morale 6 . But poor Ray rolled doubles to Cower. Two of those meant half his defenders were marked Final Fired very early in my Turn 4 movement phase, allowing me to sprint forward to capture buildings.	ubertripp
Sugar Cane Shuffle	Bounding Fire Main Tournament (Fanatic Division) Round 3 I launched an all out attack on the Japanese right looking to use the enclosed kunai as cover. The mortars were found lacking with only one finding any smoke but I pushed forward eliminating units in cc and receiving prisoners. As Frazer rushed to reposition his troops on the left as I looked at it I made it to the other side of that kunai enclosure and set about the next line of defense. Come turn 3 I had stunned one of the GMC and launched a banzai to catch the retreating PA, it was at this point Frazer failed his PMC and conceded. Understandably as the Japanese can win just by exiting if they suffer only 9CVP or less in the process. I had improved that by taking about 10CVP with the possibility of more from the banzai advancing fire/cc for the loss of 4CVP. His left flank(my right) was wide open.	Paul Legg
Sugar Cane Shuffle	Set up my fortifications on one side of the board and Andrew advanced down the other side. Despite killing just over 20 Japanese CVPs the Filipino squads were just too brittle and couldn’t stand up to the relentless Japanese advance. The Go Devils	A big part of this scenario is the US M36s vs. the JgPz 5s. The M36s need APCR to have a chance against the JgPzs. David didn't get any APCR, despite the Elite SSR. I was able to quickly whittle down the armor and start focusing on the infantry. At that point, things started to get very challenging for the Americans, losing combat assets at no loss to the Germans. The Germans can strike at many buildings and only need one for the win. If the Germans can't win that AFV vs. AFV battle, however, I can't see how they can overcome the American firepower. Fun little, quick scenario.	ubertripp

The Wolves' Last Tooth	Well...as the Greeks I setup poorly on Board 47...because I mistakenly believed that the Italians could enter on the entire north edge. Yeah...screwed that up and that was enough to really kill my chances in this unbalanced scenario....where the Greeks should win. But not me...I made it a challenging game as Dan Schwerpunkt on 41 against 3 squads on the hill mass. I held him until Turn 6 - but Dan was able to exit the 7 EVP through the frozen marsh and pond for the win. Fun scenario despite my tactical gaff.	grumblejones
Piatek Push	The Germans were able to destroy three tanks with MGs and immobilize another with a lucky CC roll. Other tanks failed a start roll and so the attack sort of stalled.	dmareske

Cpl. Anzac	Ian gave me the balance as he wanted to play with the Japanese. The balance provided me with a mortar. I was able to successfully lay smoke which allowed me to cross the open ground with only one unit DM. Once across I had too much fire power and was able to edge myself forward towards the victory condition hexes. Game came down to the last Close Combat roll which I won to secure control of the necessary victory hexes. Without the smoke I suspect Ian’s machine guns would have shredded me trying to cross the open ground.	alexashton@vinecc.org

Batty-P	Well gambled my British setup for germ push from west - but the main attack was from southeast instead. Managed to hang on until turn 5 but it was not enough. Did not plan the use of OP tank properly.	asloser
Pursuing Kobayashi	Very close at the end. In the end I was able to collect 13 casualties victory points. David total points at end of turn 6 was 12 so he conceaded. I rolled multiple ROF with my mortar which did a surprising amount of damage to the Japanese. An excellent scenario.	alexashton@vinecc.org
Wons Enough	The Germans must secure a road surrounded by hostile Dutch troops. It's an enjoyable scenario with lots of possibilities, even if we both think it might be a tad pro-Dutch. My Dutech HIPs tried to take the Germans by surprise but failed miserably and were quickly overwhelmed. My defenders had very poor shots and broke at the slightest noise. The Germans advanced with method through encirclement and made tons of prisoners.” Against the odds, the Dutch were able to shoot two panzers in quick succession with their MG. But this brief glimmer of hope disappeared quickly and the last defenders were overwhelmed by German efficiency.	lt_steiner

March Madness Korean War pack updated

The Encircled Productions guys have updated their pack to include errata to fix some issues with some scenarios (most of the errata is already on the site but I'm told there's a couple of small extra bits that are fixed, too).

Existing purchasers can simply re-download their pack to receive the updated version at no extra cost.
