Guderian's Foxes	Played the Russian very aggressively and suffered heavy losses through three turns and then dice and Russian luck started to crack the German defense on the right. The T-34's helped roll up the remaining resistance and then the Cavalry rode in and right to a victory location. Together with the T-34's the cavalry secured the second victory location for the win.	grumblejones

Soon to be Dead	Took an extra squad in balance which was erased on two shots in the first turn. Attack on the south went well. on the west I was able to hook around and reach the northern edge of the village. A couple of his Shermans were absolute monsters and I believe I lost 6-7 squads to 2 tanks despite being in terrain and/or smoke. No other way past him as he was able to take out both JgPz. Just a little short. Good interesting scenario but it takes a while to get going with pregame rubble and debris. ASLOK XL	nebel

Broich Bash	The US attack came from the long board edge, mostly in the NW corner. I had a 9-1/HMG/247 in a second level and was able to take a couple of lucky shots. I think this made the US a bit hesitant. Said MG next also got a few shots in as the US emerged from the woods around 24H10. The US only tried for WP once (with a MTR) and failed. They didn't try for SMOKE again (save a few infantry smoke grenades). I was fortunate to keep a coherent defence. In the end, the US didn't come close to gaining enough points. It's an interesting scenario, to be sure, and one I would play again. A lot depends upon how the German HMG in the second level (is there really another place for it) fares, and how successful the US is at getting SMOKE. They have WP7 with a MTR and two M24. The M24 also have s5 and sM, and that coveted smoke number of 3 on their squads. If the HMG goes on a tear (like in our match), it will be very tough on the US.	Indy Lagu

Sidi Omar	Fun, but not necessarily good. I think scenario could do with a little tweaking to make it exciting for both sides. But, as it stands, the British have to bet on an entire first turn of being shot at, dropping off the artillery leader, and effectively using as much smoke as possible. Without doing this, you may find yourself victim to the numerous, fast, Italian guns. Even though they don't have the best performance, ROF 3 makes it likely that they will hit you often enough to knock out your tanks. In my case, the Italians got incredibly lucky, knocking out about 6 tanks by the end of Game Turn 1 and outright killing the leader with the radio. I didn't even bother with Air Support as by the time they were relevant, the Brits had exhausted most of their forces. Make the artillery mandatory turn 1 from an offboard observer, change the air support to 1 plane automatically on turn 4, and I think the scenario is at least a little more fun for both sides. Priority Target	The Germans decided to take the shortest route to the guns using available wooded cover and grain fields. They also held back some troops in reserve to reinforce any faltering attack. On turn 1, a brave German leader threw himself against the crew of the southernmost Bofors locking the crew in CC and silencing the gun temporarily. Unfortunately he wouldn't survive, but it did allow other units to not have to undergo point-blank prep fire on the British turn. On Turn 2, the Germans forgot to bring in reinforcements. But the northern attack was still working to clear the woods nearest the two other Bofors and doing a decent job of it. With a pincer move gaining a foothold, the Germans worked to envelope the defending ANZACs and Greeks cutting off their avenues to rout away. Finally, on Turn 3, the Germans rushed towards the two remaining Bofors using the cover of the orchards and preserving their options to rout back if the attack failed. The Greeks were able to temporarily hold off the southern German forces from gaining ground. Ultimately with their forces surrounded, the Germans were able to capture/destroy all three guns (VASL Log)	toddgrx

The Pouppeville Exit	Played at ASLOK XL, The Bertram Inn, Aurora OH. This was my son Thomas's introduction to ASL. American sniper broke the 3U2 gun crew on turn 1 and they never made it back. Germans moved out of the 3M2 building to CC the 9-1 & 747 attacking that building, went to melee for 3 turns. Other American units swept through the village, lost their 10-2 to rolling boxcars on a MC, and put the bum's rush on the 3N7 gun. Thomas's first shot malf'd the gun, and the Americans won on turn 5. Transylvania 6-5000	Nail-biter of a game against Steve's shrewd defense. Among other things, he started two squads behind the hill on board 3, where they took advanage of the Russian's bonus at digging-in to dig foxholes, which I had to blast him out of on Turn 5. To get there, I fired Smoke, Smoke and more Smoke from the StuGs to enable the infantry to get to and clear the hill after repeated melee rolls. My "decisive" move of rushing his remaining tank (the T34-85) cost me two StuGs and immobilized a third, which managed to knock it out with a side shot nonetheless. The game winner was an advancing fire shot by 3 squads on his last good order squad. Emblematic of his dice rolls this game, he rolled boxcars! Very tight game against a skilled player.	Agoldin
Rush Hour	Friday Night Fight The chess match of the first turn was tense but highly enjoyable and would lend to high replayability. My Germans conceded in their turn 4 movement with the Americans currently on 94 VP to my 80 with the strong chance to gain another 4 in CC and the northern half of the board without a infantry sheild to protect the halftracks. Melting Pot	Excellent scenario, but I didn’t love the victory conditions. In the end, the Germans held on to the final building by routing broken units upstairs. So, the Brits need to rush those buildings one turn early to prevent this outcome. Otherwise, it’s a fun scenario with a lot of maneuver.	GeneralFG

Cohort and the Phalanx	First off, I think Perry or whoever is insane for declaring that offboard hexes are level 0 even when using come from off-board onto a hill hex (regardless of level). The implication that the world simply ends and becomes a cliff in such a way is insane when we have glider rules that "mirror" based on approach and location. Regardless, I played it the objectively correct way and the Greeks had a hard time approaching the dug in defenders, with some early breaks, turning into early losses, making recovery and progress incredibly hard. I tried to go with a fast approach from either side, hoping to shut down movement across the bridge, but it never materialized. The Guns found their marks and even the Italian MMGs hit several ROFs and the numerous 3/4s I was rolling did the Greeks no favors. Its a fun scenario, and one I'd easily recommend for some less popular adversaries.	Jobbo_Fett

Rush Hour	FNF game. The Americans controlled 14 out of the 27 intersections at the end of turn one and could therefore sit back and let the Germans come to them, with the additional advantage of having the final move. The Germans never overcame the VP hole that they were in and David conceded with two of his Pumas having broken their MA. Even with the balance given to the Germans, this seems to be pro-US. They have greater firepower and mobility than the Germans and the results to date seem to reflect this. The first turns is crucial here.. War of the Rats	The Germans had a very successful first PFPh, and the Russian reinforcements arrived only on Turn 5. This, coupled with some smart attacking moves and desperate attempts by the defense, made the end predictable. As was discussed often with this scenario, getting the reinforcements too late can be tough. But overall, it doesn't diminish the enjoyment of this classic scenario.	mestravis

Shoestring Ridge	The American setup was good, and the NVR increased to 7, so movement was difficult for the Japanese. But this one came down to a confrontation between the Japanses 10-1 kill stack and the American 9-2 kill stack. The American 9-2 broke on his first NMC, and then couldn't rally. The Japanese just started slithering by. Once the Americans failed to rally again in their Turn 5, it seemed all but over, so the Amis conceded. We're still learning the Chapter G rules, and it is difficult to prevent a Japanese attack avoiding your troops for an Exit VP condition when you can't use normal routing at night to have a fallback defense. I think that's the key to an American victory in this. That's the draw of this scenario: can you handle the awful terrain and fortifications at night when everything is so challenging. I can't imagine not playing this on VASL. Japanese fire attacks were woeful, but their MCs and TCs were solid, and their CC was outstanding. There just were too few Amis left. (VASL Log)	ubertripp
Balkan Barbecue	Well played defense by my opponent deserved the win. Luck was not really favourable Deep snow with secret bog and despite using platoons I had 2 tanks bog on entry hex. 2 snipers got leader effects a wound and a kill. He started a flame which flipped to blaze on the first opportunity creating smoke to obscure my attack. All went south in a hurry. Wont be playing this one again.	nebel
Italian Crescendo	Interesting scenario as Axis attacker, but spoiled by a blizzard of brutal Russian DRs. It ended very early. I took some calculated risks on the hill to freeze two hexes of ground-level defenders with AFV. All attacks on the AFV came up short. This allowed the Italian 8-1 DC placement. Another unmolested DC placement was forthcoming for the other hex. My opponent conceded. It was a dizzying display of awful rolls.	Houlie

More Pitchers Than Catchers	The bad morale for the Italians did them in today, with an aggressive play by the Greeks to control the upper-board's hilltops, that the Italians could not allow to stand. Some movement to try and counter them didn't work out, and a Greek squad managed to get into CC, and poor Italian combat skills were then on display. I felt like the losses I was starting to incur incentivized me to try and go for the EVP objective, and although I got the Gun, crew, and vehicle off, they only accounted for 5 EVP. The Italians dislodged the Greek Mortar teams off the southern hill, but weren't fast enough to get to the board exit and a surviving Greek crew forced a Melee, taking away valuable time to move from the Italians. Most misfortune and some chancy moves that didn't pay off and the Italians ended up all broken, only a few hexes away from salvation. Interesting, but again, it is a scenario where the 3-4-6 1st Line Italians is far too vulnerable in combat.	Jobbo_Fett
Bread Factory #2	A very exciting scenario and a great taste of the "Red Barricades" experience: tight urban combat and a lot of terrain. The German leader and his two squads (one with a DC) went Berserk on Turn 1, so the Russian defenses were tight and in Good Order. Only a squad made it to one of the Victory Buildings, but was quickly neutralized during Russian Turn 1. A small task force tried to reach the north-eastern part of the board to harass the Russian reinforcements, but they were broken on their way there. The German death stack (with their HMG and 9-2) leader made a lot of damage to the Russian HMG and MMG squads, but it was not enough to clear a path before the Russian reinforcements reached the conflict area. Currie's Favor	I thought this looked tough for the Canadians at the outset, and it became even more so with some poor DRs early, plus good ones from my opponent, resulting in my losing two tanks by turn 2. I also tried to guess where his concealed units and dummies were, and guessed wrong - very good defensive setup from my opponent. When I finally tried to advance, my 10-2 leader rolled a 12 on a 2MC, and all of my advancing squads broke. Although some of them came back, it soon became apparent that I wasn't going to reach the town square, and I conceded after my fourth turn. Clearing Colleville	The first two turns featured wild dice, breaking a lot of American units but also malfunctioning both German MGs, even eliminating the HMG, which could only fire once. As usual with the Americans, they eventually rallied but the German reinforcements were already settled and scattered throughout the southern victory buildings. When the Americans had only a handful of German units to break, their time ran out. Maybe with one more turn they would've made it. A tidy defense and patience proved useful. (VASL Log)	mestravis

Testis Megalos	A tough fight await the both of us, with the Greeks mastering the art of shooting at the various defensive terrain, but not having the tenacity to follow up on their attacks to get into the dug-in Italian positions. There was a neat back and forth, plenty of snake eyes, and surprises (like wire in woods). Overall, I'm a little confused by what the L3/35 is supposed to provide (outside of a lucky overrun or two), similar to the Greek Gun. There are a limited number of spots where you can reach out and poke at the upper level building locations without much danger, but the need to move the gun, set up, and the Italians being able to just move away makes it feel rather pointless. Not a bad scenario, and I would suggest the Greek making 1 or 2 doom stacks and pushing up gradually. (And don't forget the +1 Broken Morale versus Italians!!!)	Jobbo_Fett

For the Fatherland	Ground down by the German “kill stacks” and StuGs it was all over by T5. Difficult to get the broken Russians back (of which there were many) once the Germans are able to bring fire onto most of the “W” hexrow to keep them under DM. 76L popped up with the 9-2 AL StuG close by but despite several hits couldn’t get a result. A subsequent ROF “tear” including a crit. pretty much decided it. Would give it another go with an amended defence	Simonstan
Hot Tigers	Basically a half board game, unless the Russians want to foolishly defend up front. So the first turn was quiet as the Germans approached. As he drew within range on Turn 2, I made a point of targeting his leaders, as infantry was what was going to win this game. I took out his 8-0 with my MMG nest. Meanwhile my bookend guns each immobilized a tank, and one crew paid the price with a boxcar MC. I figured if each gun could bring a tank to a standstill I'd win. His kill stack advanced up on the western hill and, between them and the expected smoke, I was booted from the beautiful J11/K12 defensive positions. Turn 3 saw me wound one of the 7-0s and bust up any infantry approaching another freshly revealed gun position. This gun then immobilized a tank at the bottom of the turn, the crew then diving into CC to eliminate the guards holding his brethren crew prisoner, valiantly dying in the process. Turn 4 was another bad turn for the Germans, running into yet another HIP gun trap. They busted up the assaulting infantry, then proceeded to immobilize yet another tank at the bottom of the turn. Down to only half their squads and tanks being good order, and having seen three more reinforcing Russian squads enter the VC area completely unopposed, the Germans decided to toss in the towel. I really thought this would be an easy German victory, but that is a lot of relatively open ground to cross for the German infantry to get to the goal. With DI being the only realistic way for the Russians to knock out those tanks, I would constantly keep them in motion if I were the attacker.	buser333

Unholy Trinity	Pakfront use was fun but I probably set-up too far forward since they were overrun mid-game but they did take out 3 AFV including the OP tank. Tank-hunter teams were completely unsuccessful but 80mm OBA caught large group of attackers out in the open.	Kydder

Latest News

A new publisher in the shop!

Le Franc Tireur have joined the ranks of third party publishers who will be selling digital packs on the shop.

Their first publication in English (and some French!), LFT #8, is now available via LFT #8's publication page and features both the 90+ page magazine and 10 scenarios, for $24.

LFT are trialling the service and if there's enough interest he will be adding many more publications, so if you can support them either through words of encouragement or by purchasing the pack, we have more digital content to look forward to!

The scenario page now has an Order of Battle editor to ease the pain of editing scenarios and slight update in the way scenarios are linked by name to scenarios in ROAR.

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
