2015-09-13(D) Michael Rodgers vs Erik Lindblad Russian winI had the Russian defenders against Erik Lindblad in O2 BREAKING THE ISHUN LINE. This is a 1941 scenario. 15 German squads, supported by OBA, engineer assets and many MG attack a fortified Russian defence. I chose to focus almost everything on the larger hill. Off of that hill, I had two dummies at ground level, one squad at ground level and one squad on the smaller hill, out of sight. Erik chose the most covered approach along his left flank, but kept a central firebase of the 9-2, three squads, HMG and 2 MMG. His pre-game FFE locations supported that direction and broke several units, the most important one being the ground level squad protecting that direction from which he was attacking. The attackers moved up fairly close, fairly quickly, but faltered in the open ground trying to climb the mountain. The OBA observer brought in one fire mission of smoke, but was on the other flank, so I still had some units not in smoke protecting the main direction of the German attack. I shifted too many assets right, which caused Erik to gamble on a stack (8-0, 2 838, DC, FT) run to the left, but luck for me they found a minefield. I was able to shift a couple of squads back to the left. The Germans regrouped on my right and tried again, but they took too many Pins and breaks. After four turns, Erik conceded.
