Overview:

On the 28th, the 2nd Battalion of the 5307th Composite Unit set up a defensive perimeter at Nhpum Ga to stop the Japanese 114th Infantry Regiment from advancing north through the Tanai valley to attack the flank of the Chinese 22nd Division near Saguzup. For several days, Merrill's Marauders endured artillery barrages and probing attacks from the Japanese. To make matters worse, elements of the Japanese 55th Infantry Regiment had joined the siege. By the 31st, the Japanese had completely encircled the 2nd Battalion at Nhpum Ga and were in position to make an all-out assault against the Americans. They opened with a heavier than normal barrage from the howitzers and mountain guns supporting them.

Hexrow U is misnumbered. The first hex is U1, then a hex with no coordinate. Call that hex "U1.5".MMP
SSR1: All Interior Jungle hexes are Dense, but in most cases, however, the "oversized colored center dot" in a Jungle hex designates Light Jungle [EXC: hexes U9-U11].MMP
Hexes E9 and P10 can be entered at the path rate from, respectively, F9 and O10. Hex L12 can be entered at the path rate from L11 and L13.MMP

2015-07-24(A) Andy Beaton vs Marti Cabre American winFinished with 1 IJA squad vs two American crews and one leader left, but I didn't have time to clear the last Americans out of the victory area. A very destructive and fun game.
2015-07-24(D) Martí Cabré vs Andy Beaton American winAn excellent scenario featuring desperate hand to hand combat in Burma jungle between American raiders and Japanese. The Americans are totally surrounded but have huge firepower. The Japanese must ignore their bloody losses and advance for the kill. There were many many HtH CC attacks that ended with everybody dead. Many Americans died for failure to rout. And the Americans ended firing their .50 machineguns until they burnt and throwing DC charges as D1F on charging Japanese units. At the end, a lonely Japanese squad faced two American crews on the last hill, not being able to break them both at the same time, so they commited seppuku and the Americans won.
2006-08-31(D) Vic Lauterbach vs ML American winJapanese held 14 of 20 hill locations at end of GT 7, but US recaptured L6 and L7 on GT 8. Japanese too weak to take J9 or H10 in GT 8. Very close - narrow US victory.
2004-07-25(D) Vic Lauterbach vs J. Miller American winFrom ASLAP Notes:
At the end of GT7, Japanese controled 14 out of 20 L4/L5 hill hexes, but had no full squads left.
In GT8 US RPh, US HS in J9 failed to rally. US squad in J10 kept DM. Japanese crew in J6 self rallied. Other Japansese HS lose DM.
GIs can recapture hexes L7 and L6 unopposed. Japanese have no chance of taking J9 or H10.
Japanese player conceded. US wins a narrow victory. CVP totals - US 73, Japs 38. Japs
