Overview:

On 24 May, faced with the deteriorating situation in France, the Allies decided to evacuate Norway. However, before the evacuation, the Anglo-French commanders wanted to retake Narvik. For that operation, the main attack would come from the north and be conducted by Lt.-Col. Magrin-Vernerrey's 13th Demi-Brigade of the Foreign Legion. The unit was landed on Orneset Beach shortly before midnight on 28 May, achieving total surprise, overwhelming initial German resistance. The Franco-Norwegian second wave, however, landed under enemy gunfire. This delayed until 0430 the deployment of the detachment ordered to take Hill 457. The Legionnaires were to cover the attack by their allies. A company of Gebirgsjager launched a violent counterattack against the 2nd Company of the 13th Demi Brigade.

2021-03-19(D) Stephen dedier vs Gene Patterson German winThis scenario could be fun but it can also be a blowout.
With the setup the way it is the Germans get to fire away with the 81mm and the HMG at pretty exposed French troops.
The first German prep fire laid smoke for the reinforcements and broke and/or reduced 6 French squads and 2 leaders. This effectively wiped out the 2 French detachments close to the victory hill and allowed the German reinforcements to come on and capture/eliminate a chunk of the French. By turn 2, the allies had lost 12 CVP and one of their MMG was in German hands. French were reduced to 3 squads and a wounded leader that were not broken and under constant DM from the Germans at height advantage.
Norwegians pressed the attack but with the mud and German height/firepower advantage there was not much they could do. Just to add insult, 4 times in a row the allies managed to put together a FG in d-fire they cowered with 8's, 10 and a 12 causing no damage but to themselves.
French artillery did some damage but with the Germans able to spread out across the hill and the limited options for attack it was hopeless and i conceded in turn 4.
I would have expected the French with 8 morale to hold up better but the turn 1 damage put the allies behind the 8-ball early and Gene took full advantage keeping them down.
2021-03-04(D) Jason Nichols vs Rob MacGinley French / Norwegian winA challenging scenario for both sides. Mud makes movement slow and good lines of sight should allow both mortars and the German HMG to dish out punishment at long range. French broke their mortar on Turn 1. German reinforcements were effectively held up and contained for long enough for the French/Norwegian force to push up onto the hill although they did take heavy casualties and were difficult to rally when broken. French artillery came to the rescue and cleared the hill of defenders which allowed a last turn rush to capture enough hill hexes for a narrow win.
2020-07-27(A) wayne baumber vs Joel French / Norwegian winDecent scenario, with the mud causing movement issues and the Alpine Hills causing LOS issues, the Allied force got onto Hill 740 far too quickly and easily in sufficient numbers to nullify any German counter attack.
2020-03-27(D) Shane Pask vs French / Norwegian winGermans conceded turn 3. The dice were against them and their tactics were wrong. Their turn 1 reinforcements are the key and they sent their best leader to board 18 after the buildings. By turn 3 they had only 1 second line squad left on the hill.
2020-01-18(D) David Yllanes vs Jonathan Kapleau French / Norwegian win
