Overview:

Trying to escape its encirclement, the Alpini Corps constantly had to fight off blocking forces of Russian indantry and raiding partisans, as well as raiding armored forces. On January 15th, the most dangerous raid of all occurred, when tanks and riders from an armored brigade of the 3rd Tank Army attacked the town of Rossosch, where the headquarters of the Alipini Corps was situated. If the headquarters was captured, the whole retreating column would be thrown into disarray. Men from the headquarters itself fought the Russians, holding them off just long enough for the ski battalion Monte Cervnio to come to their defense. . .

2025-12-28(D) Vic Lauterbach vs RV Italian / German winI took the Soviets in this East Front winter fight. Renato made great use of moving first by having most of the staff officers flee east away from my attacking 628s. Using some 447s to attack from the north weakened my push for building 10Z6 and I wasted two T-34s trying to slow down the assault engineers. All the T-34s must hunt and pursue the staff officers! I gained 3 staff officer CVP and 23 other CVP (including both StuH 42s) but fell way short as Renato racked up 45 CVP by killing 4 of 5 T-34s and 11 of my 14 squads! It was over after five turns, but was still a good, fun scenario that offers both players lots of tactical options. Give the Soviets the balance.

Then the Russians tried to utilize their AFVs only to have 4 of them break the machine guns and or main guns allowing the Italian Assault Engineers easy access with the ATMM's and DC's to take them out.
