Overview:

Soviet forces appeared on the outskirts of Budapest in late December, and pressed their attack to encircle the city. As the Soviets began the methodical process of attacking the urban areas, the Hungarians fought back, but yielded ground to the Soviet juggernaut, and the defense started to crumble. For unknown reasons the Soviet forces were pulled off the front line and replaced with newly allied 7th Romanian Corps. The Hungarians despised the Romanians, and their fighting spirit would change quickly and dramatically. The Romanian 2nd Division attacked into the heart of the city near the eastern train station in Pest. The fighting was brutal, close quarter type. It raged from building to building. Hungarian assault guns pulled up close to the station and bolstered the defense. The Romanians continued to press the attack. . .

2020-10-14(A) Alberto González Ramírez vs solo DrawWell balanced. Although solo played, had fun and decided in the last turn.
2018-01-13(D) Stephen dedier vs McLinden, Hugh Hungarian winWhat a slugfest.
The Romanians came in hard on the Hungarian left. I was able to pull back my forces on the right to the center to mass the defense. I sacrificed 4 squads and my Bofors really did the job from a fortified location. That really slowed held up the Romanian advance.
The tanks came on at just the right moment to blast the Romanians out of a couple of buildings opposite my fortress and I had forced the AT gun to be abandoned in the street early.
This was a real slugfest and I thought that the 7 turns would just be too much for the Hungarians but we managed to inflict heavy casualties and leave a good part of the Romanian force scattered to rally and they just didn't have enough to beat through the tanks and take the 2 level fortress.
2011-10-29(D) Andy Beaton vs Spencer Armstrong Romanian winSolid Romanian win - Hungarian force was too widely dispersed at the start to concentrate effectively
2010-07-10(A) Edward Fritz vs Jon Davis Romanian winA fun scenario that is greatly shaped by the Hungarian setup (particularly where they put debris and rubble). The Hungarian player rolled a large number of original "12" DRs (especially on important morale checks), therefore his defense fell apart more quickly than anticipated. Would definitely play this scenario again (either side).
2010-07-10(D) Jonathan Davis vs Ed Fritz, Jr. Romanian win
