Overview:

The Republican Army needed to divert the attention of the Nationalist away from Madrid. The decision was made to attack the small town of Brunete, a few miles west of Madrid. The 15th International Brigade was tasked with taking and holding a hill mass just outside of town. The Nationalist units had set up several machine guns covering the approach to the summit. The hail of bullets upon the Republican attackers was so loud that this was called ‘Mosquito Hill’. The main attack was led by the two American battalions, the Lincoln and Washington Battalions. The Nationalist defenders were starting to falter when they also received reinforcements from the 4th Navarra Brigade.

2023-03-29(A) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Republican winA republican victory due in large part to some terrible dice for the defenders, breaking both MMGs multiple times and never allowing them to punish an aggressive attacker, regardless of terrain. The French came in from the west and severely hampered the ability for the defender to protect their reinforcements, with the subsequent lack of support proving fatal for the nationalists. If I were to play as the defenders again, I would highly suggest staking out on the right hill only - there are far better lines of sight with which to attack the enemy, and too many orchards on the left.
