Overview:

In August 1942, the Russians launched what would be known as the First Rzhev-Sychevka Offensive. The offensive slowly ground forward against fierce German resistance. In late September, the fighting had reached the city of Rzhev. On the 27th the Russian 78th Rifle Division supported by lend-lease tanks broke through the lines of the 6. Infanterie-Division. The Germans responded to this threat with a series of counterattacks. One such attack was performed by assault troops of the I. Bataillon, Infanterie-Regiment 18.

Question: SSR3 specifies that a dog's target is determined by "randomly selecting one" vehicle. Should Random Selection (A.9) be employed, and if so what happens if multiple targets are selected? Answer: Random Selection could be used, but then any ties needs to be rerolled. Whatever method, it should be random and only one target should come out. FrF website

2021-04-06(D) Andy Bagley vs Neil Brunger German winA really fun scenario, with the fascinating tactical situation and the excitement of the dogs augmented for us by a good helping of snakeyes for both sides! The Russian player is defending, but has the chance to attack the German on-board forces on turn 1 before the main German force arrives. My opponent launched lots of dogs at my StuGs - fortunately none of them found their target - but otherwise opted for a defensive approach. In response I sent my attack down the west and east sides, and was eventually able to advance forward from the south-west corner as well, with the result that the Russians eventually found themselves attacked from all sides - a kind of updated Custer's Last Stand. German progress was slow at first, particularly as I was careful with my StuGs because of the dog threat, but eventually the superior German firepower told. The Russians threw in the towel on Turn 6, at which point they had just one unbroken squad left on the board.
An excellent scenario, highly recommended. Unless you are a dog lover!

2019-05-18(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Paul Schaeffer German winVery interesting and balanced tournament scenario. It's really interesting to put up a defence integrating the dogs in it. No dogs' kills for Paul but it was interesting.
2012-12-05(D) Andy Beaton vs Jeff Wasserman Russian winGood fun fighting off the dogs, but after that, I couldn't advance forward a step.
