Overview:

In Übach, GIs worked in concert with tanks of the 743rd Tank Battalion, which blew open the doors of boarded-up houses, allowing infantry to enter and clear out anyone remaining. House-to-house fighting went on all night, with lines never more than a building apart, and frequently resulted in foes separated by only a ceiling or wall. German counterattacks on the morning of 4 October, employing similar tactics as the Americans and supported by artillery, recaptured several buildings while bypassing other American positions, including the L Company headquarters. The order was given to push the Germans back.
Attacker: American (Elements of K & L Companies, 3rd Battalion, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, and C Company, 743rd Tank Battalion)
Defender: German (Elements of Infanterie-Regiment 148, Infanterie-Division 49)

2021-12-24(D) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier German winLost the German AFV to a sniper attack...don't be CE unless you have to! I was able hold onto two of the buildings. The Germans got a couple of timely sniper attacks as well, killing a couple of leaders which slowed down the American advance.
2021-12-21(A) Indy Lagu vs Rob Oler American winThe US have a lot of firepower, and need it.

I think this is tough on the Germans. A bad setup and they are really behind in the count,
to coin a phrase.

Rob had a good set up, but left a backdoor open for my Amis to exploit.

It came down to the last turn. I was a bit lucky getting every half-squad I rolled for.

Rob would rate this one an 8. I might agree if the Germans get the balance.

It's an interesting scenario, well worth playing.
2021-12-09(D) Craig Renier vs Dave Mareske American winThe Americans quickly overwhelmed the truly terrible German setup. The German AFVs were positioned with no infantry support and no where to escape as the Americans advanced with bazookas and DCs. The German defense held up well in the center as the German right flank was cracked and the left was pushed aside. One American AFV was wrecked by a PF, but it was too little to help. On Turn 3, the German reinforcements made a desperate dash for one of the victory buildings hoping to stem the American tide. But they did not survive defensive attacks from the 2nd American AFV. On turn 4, the German center was virtually eliminated in CC at which point the Germans conceded.

2020-10-08(A) Pim Nusselder vs HvdS German winFirst scenario I played via VASL and the first in years against an experienced player. The outcome matched the experience or lack thereof. Germans skulked of course, while my US FP amounted to nothing much. The plan was to grind forward, but my units were the ones being grinded up. The building on the lefthand flank I managed to seize, but the central building stayed in German hands, as I desperately shoved two Shermans into it. Still fun though!
