Overview:
The Wehrmacht had been laying siege to Sevastopol since December of 1941, when the first attempt to storm the city failed. This time around the Germans would be ready. Artillery of all sizes had been brought up and were to engage in a methodical destruction of the Russian defenses. The 132nd Infantry Division was ordered to execute the task of advancing down the Belbeck Valley, culminating in the capture of fort Maxim Gorki I -- and open the gates to Sevastopol. The assault units of the 436th Regiment laid their guns on known enemy positions and waited for the opening barrage to precede their attack.
