Overview:

Panzer-Division 15 was moving in the direction of Gabr Saleh. Late in the day they came upon the 4th Armoured Brigade’s Honeys which were this time “…in good defensive terrain with the sun behind them and their ammunition racks full”. 22nd Armoured Brigade was on the way to help, but until then 4th Armoured would have to hold alone.
Attacker: German (Schützen-Brigade 15 and Panzer Regiment 8, Panzer-Division 15)

2022-12-11(A) Jeff B vs Steve Etzelmueller British winA poorly conceived assault that should only be won by the Germans if the Brits have poor dice or they have hot ones. Attacking a heavily-fortified far-ranging position into the sun with little time and no dust will call for a quick lucky strike, and you'd better guess right on where that strike should be because otherwise the Germans will lose a lot of vehicles. And if they lose a lot of vehicles they'll have to take a lot of land. I figured staying in motion and armored assaulting would provide at least some protection but I was wrong, losing at least a vehicle every half turn. When that's matched with infantry losses I just didn't have enough muscle. When I did stop my tanks to get ready for a gunfight with the reinforcing Crusaders I promptly broke a gun. When I broke another during Turn 4 PFPh, failed to connect with a CH, and lost my last full squad to a "1" sniper I figured I had enough. I was sort of exited to play this, but now I remember why DTO is far down on my list of wants to play.
2021-10-06(D) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker British win

(VASL Log)
As featured on IR #55. Not a bad game - might be dicey if the German player decides to duke it out with the Stuarts early on. In our game the Brits held on thanks to the AT gun shoring up the centre and the Germans were slow to flank the positions. A few lucky RoFs helped with the tank battle, too.
2021-08-17(D) Rob MacGinley vs James Short German winExcellent game for those who want to battle in the desert - probably slightly pro all the Germans as they have a very effective force - the Brits need both early kills and to be very flexible as they fall back - those hillocks are tough to hold
2020-04-30(A) Eric Topp vs John Fedirow German winBritish had poor luck with shots against the German AFVs. In particular, they malf-ed the 2-pdr AT allowing the Germans to encircle the British line. The Crusader reinforcements couldn't stop the Germans from mounting a strong attack on both the north and south hillocks.
2020-02-29(A) Bob Schaaf vs James Mehl British winHeld the HTs and Inf offboard until second turn, which may have turned out to be my undoing. With the balance of AFV losses for both sides, needed two Hillocks for the win. Almost managed to grab the second one on the north side with a last turn infantry charge, but long range fire and ROF from an unsurpressed MMG on the central hillock put paid to that effort. Great scenario. Would play again as either side.
