Overview:

The 25th Infantry Division was moving north to support the Eighth Army's counterattack against the CPVA's 39th Army. Task Force Dolvin was formed to spearhead the assault which followed the Yongbyon - Ipsak road north, roughly paralleling the east bank of the Kuryong River. First Lieutenant Ralph Puckett Jr.'s newly formed 8213th Ranger Company was attached to B Company, 89th Medium Tank Battalion and would be riding into battle on Sherman tanks. Their objective was Hill 205 which was a "steep circular knob" just west of the road. By late Saturday afternoon, Puckett's Rangers and the tanks received enemy mortar fire. The Chinese were dug-in and determined to hold the hill.
