Overview:

Having secured the rail yard and nearby park the previous day, the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines got off to a slow start on this day as it tried to work its way through the neighborhood located immediately north of the railroad station. Here C Company encountered a "formidable nest of KPA automatic weapons and AT guns" which held the company at bay until tanks and flamethrowers blasted away the last defenders, but not before one tank was disabled by a mine and another was likewise rendered immobile by an antitank gun round. Once clear of this first obstacle, the battalion pivoted eastward in accordance with the overall scheme of maneuver and began to sweep the city of enemy resistance.
