Overview:

The I st and 2nd Battalions of the 8th Cavalry Regiment barely escaped from Unsan on 2 November, with the 3rd Battalion under Major Robert Ormond acting as rear guard, not yet aware that the area was under attack by the entire Chinese 39th Army. After several attempts by the rest of the First Team to break through to 3rd Battalion failed with heavy casualties, General Gay made the toughest decision of his career and left 3rd Battalion to fend for itself. Leaving behind 250 wounded men (including a mortally wounded Ormond) in the care of the battalion surgeon and Chaplain Captain Emil Kapaun (who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions), the remaining cavalrymen fought their way south any way they could, often with Chinese troops close behind.

2021-10-16(D) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best Communist Chinese winI had my Chinese dig foxholes along the south edge and wait for the Americans to approach. There were some fierce CCs that went the Chinese way first then American, but created enough of a delay that the Americans had only a slim chance to exit, failing their first MC on the attempt. Good game, lots of concealment and movement.
