Overview:
At the onset of March 1944, the Allies were slowly converging on the Burmese village of Walawbum. Situated on the Kamaing Road, Walawbum could be accessed by numerous access trails and roads. Elephant grass reaching 15 ft tall in places lined the roads near Wesu Ga. The Japanese had quickly moved elements of two infantry regiments, the 55th and 56th to defend the area. The terrain near Wesu Ga was wet and muddy, which would force any Allied tanks to remain on the roads. Hidden in the high Kunai...the Japanese would spring the ambush.Attacker: Allied (Chinese 1st Provisional Tank Group and 5037th Composite Group "Merrill's Marauders")
