Under the pretext that Poland had appropriated certain Slovak territories during the Munich Crisis in September 1938, the Slovak government contributed three infantry divisions to the German Army Group South, specifically the 14th Army. They were tasked with flank protection of the eastern wing of the Army Group South’s initial thrust into the Carpathian area of Poland. One such town that had to be cleared was Sanok.

2024-10-07(A) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Slovakian winA methodical approach to the village ended with numerous failed shots by the Poles, culminating in a large number of Close Combat actions, which I suddenly realised I frontloaded the Polish defense with some Green troops, who immediately got ambushed and captured in various ways and combats. It was rather fun to see that interaction, as well as remembering that Interrogation was a thing. By Turn 4, the Slovaks had amassed enough Prisoner CVP that they simply needed to hold a building or two and be guaranteed a victory. The Polish forces were diminished to the point that achieving such success would be next to impossible.
2024-09-12(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Slovakian win2 hrsFirst to play and post.
2024-09-12(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Slovakian win2 hrsPoles did very good on Turns 1 and 2 and broke up the Slovaks in the woods. But their superior numbers allowed them to get a squad in the Polish rear and then win a few of the close combats. Slovaks ended the game with 10 VP vs. 7 for the Poles.
