Overview:

In July 1944 Allied Southeast Asia Command (SEAC) conceived a plan to assault the Burmese capital by sea, however, the command lacked the amphibious and naval resources to mount what came to be known as Operation DRACULA. By April Allied fortunes had changed in the Burma Theater. The Japanese were losing by attrition, and enough naval assets arrived from European Theaters to make a large-scale operation to capture of Rangoon feasible. Before the Royal Navy could enter the mouth of the Rangoon River, a battery of fortified heavy guns on Elephant Point had to be silenced.
Attacker: Gurkha (3rd Gurkha Parachute Battalion, 50th Indian Parachute Brigade)
Defender: Japanese (Burma Army Area remnants)

2026-07-25(A) nathan wegener vs Jeff DeYoung Gurkha win5 hrsDown to the last turn CC for 2 Gun Crews. I had enough troops for >3:1 with each attack on the crews so only needing to tie them up in Melee or Kill them was in my favor. Note: both of us made OOB errors in our favor MG for me and a Trench for him so this result isnt perfect. Enjoyable to play this one as the Brits. They know what to do, where to go to win, and have the troops and toys to do it. Japanese player has perhaps more challenges but also plenty of opportunities to use their unique traits to stop the attack with ambushes and well placed MG fire. I think we both enjoyed this one and Jeff's famous custom map skills made this even better. StLouis2026
2026-04-25(D) nathan wegener vs Doug Kirk Japanese win5.33 hrsThis turned out to be a lot of fun. One of my little mortars crit hit two squads and a 8-1 leader in T1 and killed them all. This was a pretty big swing for the Brits to overcome. Hedgehog defense held for several turns breaking the 8 morale gurkha's and slowing them down. I had 3 guns still occupied at the end of the game. Brit had trouble passing MC consistently and just ran out of time. Both of us enjoyed this one and thought it was worth a play.
