Overview:
It was a dark night; navigation was difficult. The troopers of the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) had donned their rubber-soled shoes in case the barbed wire they had to pass through was electrified (as it turned out, it was not). As quickly and as quietly as possible, they made gaps in the wire, flattening the fence-posts by driving over them; they broke off the wire by bending it back and forth over the bonnets of their Rolls Royce armored cars.
