Overview:

One of 2nd Belorussian Front's initial objectives of Operation Bagration was Mogilev. The Front's main effort to capture the city was assigned to the 49th Army, which had been conducting offensive operations since 22 June, making a small penetration in the German lines. After heavy fighting on the morning of 24 June, German forces began withdrawing to prepared defensive positions on the west side of the Basia River. German covering forces and aircraft delayed forward elements of 49th Army, although most of the planes were preoccupied with Russian aircraft. Forward Detachments (FDs) were being used by the Russians. and the 42nd Rifle Division sent out a FD to seize a crossing point of the river at a different location in order to allow follow on forces to rapidly cross the river and flank the German defenses. . . . .An interesting tactical problem for both sides, using an unusual array of Russian armour. The Russians need to use the SPGs to win, but cannot afford to loose a single one.
Attacker: Russian (Reinforced 3rd Battalion, 455th Rifle Regiment, 42nd Rifle Division, 69th Rifle Corps)

2025-05-12(A) Andy Beaton vs Jeff Wasserman Russian win2.5 hrsThe German defence rises and falls on the success of panzerfaust rolls. The Russian armour needs to get past them and that means taking risks. The SU-76's are the best weapon in the Russian arsenal but their crews are exposed. I was lucky and only lost one vehicle to German PF's and made up the deficit with infantry struggling through the river.
2023-05-07(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Sergio Puzziello German winI wanted to play this one from a long time and got my wish fulfilled. tough defence for the germans, but the russian has to play a tactful game if he doesn't want to lose precious VP to german fire. the GUN was of no use and the crew broke at the first shot, but I was able to delay my opponent enough to prevent his victory.
2023-01-01(A) John Garlic vs Victor Rosso German win[Imported from ROAR]
2021-07-09(D) Richard Jenulis vs Richard King German winRussians ended the game with 20 VP.
2019-01-24(D) Tom Kearney vs Alan Saltzman German winThe Russian managed to get two SU-85’s, an SU-76, and a truck over the western bridge, though it wasn’t enough.
