Overview:

The 2/10th Battalion, reinforced with Matildas from B Squadron, 1st Armoured Regiment, was engaged in heavy fighting for Hill 87 and Parramatta. A company of 2/9th was ordered forward to control positions captured by 2/10th. Eventually elements of 2/9th, along with supporting tanks, were ordered to move west and clear the urban coastal area as far as Signal Hill. Klandasan, also known as Glandesa, had been regarded as the most beautiful European town in the Netherlands East Indies before the war. Now, the heavy naval and aerial bombardment designed to neutralize the Japanese defenses left it devastated.. . .Despite the scenario name, there isn't actually a hill involved and instead has a force of Australians trying to fight the long way across two deluxe city maps and exit at least 22 CVP off the other edge.
Attacker: Australian (Reinforced elements 2/9th Battalion, 18th Infantry Brigade, 7th Australian Infantry Division)

2023-09-17(D) Douglas Leslie vs Steve Slunt Japanese winPlayed in the final round of the Illuminating Rounds competition. Steve attacked along a broad front. One of his squads was wiped out in bore sighted hex on turn one and it all went downhill for the Australians from there. Apart from a couple of HOB battle hardening results, they were buried in a flurry of casualty MCs and broken weapons. Steve conceded when his flamethrowing tank was taken out by a HIP THH. Clearly luck was on my side but the scenario is an interesting one. The Aussies don't look as if they have too much ground to cover but the Japanese are tough to get past, even in an urban environment.
2015-01-26(D) nathan wegener vs Peter W Japanese winWas sure I blew the setup but was able to pick apart the Brit infantry and had a couple of lucky streaks with one squad and LMG that tore up 5 Brit squads over 2 full turns. Also took out both Matilda's in CC.
