"Death Zone" After taking over the Dzerhinsky Tractor Factory the day before after weeks of intense fighting, the Germans set out to conquer the next Russian stronghold in the sector: The Red Barricades Factory. The Russians were not going to give up the Oktyabr industrial complex easily. Troops just disembarked from the ferry were busily preparing in the dark for the impending German assault.
