Overview:
12 Kilometers north of Rusa, Russia, following the successful breakthrough of the German lines in front of Moscow, Cossack cavalry formed into battle groups behind the crumbling front. These bands of cavalry attacked German headquarter units, supply columns and depots, as well as important bridges and rail lines. Two of these battle groups, under the command of General Dovatar, caught up with the 252nd German Infantry Regiment after days of chase.
