Overview:
The 43rd Infantry Division was continuing its advance south of Caen. The German 276th Infantry Division stood in the way and was preparing to launch its own attack when the British commenced a heavy barrage and a preemptive strike against St. Denis-de-Mere. Covering the British approaches leading south from Proussey was the 276th Infantry Division, with the 752nd Grenadier Regiment and Kompanie Olefsen, Sturmpanzer Abteilung 217 under operational control.
