Overview:

The capture of Florence and the crossing of the Arno River finally brought the Allies up against the Gothic Line. While far from completed, it was in many instances a formidable obstacle with key positions constructed in depth. The 3rd Greek Mountain Brigade supported by Sherman tanks was tasked to seize one such position - the Miramare airfield, defended by German paratroopers and a Pantherturm bunker.

2025-06-12(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German win2.75 hrsTough game for the British as the ROAR stats make pretty clear. Dan's infantry got stuck on the minefields and were practically mission killed as a result. The German 9-1 and HMG did what the German HMG does and shredded the British infantry upfront. The Nashhorn boxcar'd its first shot and was then knocked out by a Sherman. The 81 MTR malf'd and 6'd itself. The Panzerschreck never got off a shot. But the Pantherturm knocked out two tanks and broke a squad. The British were conceded on Turn 5 after MALF'ing the MA on one of the 2 remaining Shermans. With no path to victory, the British called off the attack.
2020-07-13(D) David Ramsey vs Toby Pilling German winAs featured on Illuminating Rounds 24. Came down to the last CC - more fun than it might appear to be. The general feeling about this scenario is the Germans can attempt an all-hip defence concentrating on the rear two buildings. Be aware of this as the Greeks, and be aggressive. Of course, maybe the Germans will hip up-front, and in that case - be cautious.. :)
