Overview:

The 2/6th Queen's battalion under Lt. Col. Keighley from the 169th Brigade was assigned the task of securing the Montecorvino airfield. Facing them were the men from the 2nd Battalion, 10th Panzer Grenadier Regiments. Unfortunately, the Shermans from 'C' Squadron Royal Scots Greys assigned to support the Queen's were delayed at the beaches, forcing the men from the Queen's to attack across open terrain. That attack failed. Now supported by the tanks, the Queen's infantry tried again. The well dug in panzer grenadiers has their own armor support, some now hidden among the wreckage of burning planes.
Attacker: British (2nd/6th Queen's Royal Regiment, 169th Brigade and C Squadron, Scots Greys)

2023-12-19(D) Ian Mann vs Ashley Tennant German winVery good game, a Sherman managed to flank and destroy the Stug, but German infantry got very lucky in CC getting their revenge upon the aforementioned British tank.
2023-06-25(D) Andy Bagley vs Indy Lagu British winA very nice short scenario, although a bit dicey just because it's short. I set up close to the VC buildings with just a couple of half-squads in front to screen the approach. The British opted for a head-on frontal assault and quickly brushed aside the screen, going through the orchards and woods including one tank forcing a trail-break. My StuG attempted to take on the Shermans, got one but fell victim to the second - although this was later immobilised by my AA gun. Despite these setbacks the British infantry pushed on relentlessly and was able to force me out off the main VC building and two others, leaving me with insufficient for any counter-attack. Conceded on turn 4.
2023-06-25(A) Indy Lagu vs Andy Bagley British winAndy gives a good account of our playing.

I'll add that I think he was caught a bit off guard with
my decision to go straight up the middle with everyone
(including the Shermans).

Andy had a bit of bad luck; he immobilized a Sherman
(which was not bad luck), but in a position that was rather
useful to me (hence the bad luck). Next turn, the Sherman
fired HE at his gun crew and scored a K. No more AA Gun
after that.

The German key was perhaps a 548 with LMG. When that
fellow finally broke, I was able to keep him under DM. When
he finally rallied (on British 4), I smoked him with a MTR.

On German 4, the Brits had three buildings in force and the
German did not have enough to retake and hold two of them.

Worth playing again. Perhaps the Germans should get the balance
(one fewer 457 for the Brits)?
2023-06-25(A) Paul Legg vs Tim Bunce German winDouble One 2023 - Main Round 3 - Earlier in this tournament I diced my opponent, this scenario it was my turn to dice myself. I had 5 or 6 boxcars on MCs and rally attempts. Only the little mortar had any real effect and that broke as well
2023-06-18(D) Miikka Sohlman vs Shinji Inaba British win
2023-06-01(A) Simon Staniforth vs Mick Allen In progressIt’s a small scenario with not many units as the German defender so a run of bad luck can quickly turn the tide. I was well in the game but a “snake eyes” Prep fire shot just to keep some Brits under DM saw the British sniper go off and break a key squad. He ended up taking a 16 flat and being eliminated instead of the expected 2+2 on skulking and it opened the way to the key building of 14H9. Subsequently the AA Gun malfs, then the StuG and finally even the light mortar joins in. Meantime the wind had also got blowing shrouding a couple of HS defending other buildings in Smoke from the burning aircraft wrecks so they were quickly mopped up. What can you do? An heroic charge in the final German HT by the StuG, 7-0 and 2x HS to try and wrest back H9 fails and it’s game over
2022-01-01(D) Vilis Pavulans vs Omid Mashregh-Zamini German winLearning AFVs on the british side. Pretty good advance in the first turn but the the infantry got a bit halted in the central woods by pinning. The british Shermans went the left side to take care of the mortar in the woods and to encircle the german infantry in the buildings. Good plan until the StuG unhipped from the right side and advanced towards the first british AFV which failed to kill it. Next turn it was destroyed by a critical hit. By that time the second AFV was also in LOS and another hit turned the second Sherman into a blaze. Since it was AFV practice, we ended the game in order to restart.

2020-09-22(A) manzoli andrea vs Davide Galloni British winwind increased in the 4th turn and drifting smoke aided British Assault

2020-09-15(A) Marco Pasquini vs manzoli Andrea German win
2020-03-21(D) O Ramaille vs Javanabal Radjah British winA lesser than average German setup associated with incridibly awful die rolls allowed the British an easy walk to the airfield destroying both the hidden gun and the Stug III in the process. The remaining defenders were more heroic and counterattacked to get the main building back. They stepped in but were not able to gain control of it. A British victory.
2020-01-03(D) davide galloni vs Marco Pasquini British win
2020-01-03(A) Marco Pasquini vs Galloni Davide British winVery Good Scenario!

2018-10-29(A) patrick palma vs Paul Saunders British win
2018-03-03(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German winOne of the great games between Dan Best and myself. A sharp fight from the very first shot. Snake eyes kept both of us in the fight till the very end. With all but 4-5-8 with the 8-1 left, my British managed to DM the German 9-1 and 5-4-8, but I failed to gain control of 2 additional bui

2016-05-25(D) patrick palma vs John McLoughlin German win
2016-05-22(A) Michael Dorosh vs Colin Emerson German winPlayed this with OA20 and OA21 as a mini-CG, carrying over forces to the next, with a Clean-Up phase modified from Singling in between scens and some modifications to set up etc. The British lost 3 sq and a 9-1 in OA19, so carried over the rest of their forces to this one and added them to the OB. Germans lost 1.5 sq and a 9-1 in OA19. So rough parity for this one, and once again the Brits failed to make it to the objective building.
2016-05-22(D) Colin Emerson vs Michael Dorosh German win3 scenario mini CG.
Carried over surviving forces from OA19, seemed fairly balanced.
British attacked with all forces through the Woods.
Germans hunkered down, AA gun was very stubborn and delayed the British.
The British did take victory hex 14H9, but did take two more buildings adjacent to the runway.
Heroic action by the AA crew saved the day
2013-08-02(A) Andy Beaton vs Tom West British winWon by the skin of an Armour Leader in close combat
2013-02-18(D) mark watson vs Richard Carter German winRick's miserable CC rolls did not help him. Great scenario, though. Lots of action in a very small space.
2013-02-18(A) Richard Carter vs Mark Watson German winwas fun, I had not such good CC luck which cost me the game.
2012-07-21(A) Raoul Duke vs MH British winAmazing scenario. A couple twists, then down to the wire CC in victory buildings.
2012-01-14(D) Nick Irving vs Brett Griffiths German winGREAT game - came down to final tun CC in victory building. Just held on.
