Overview:
As the drive through France continued, the crossing of the Seine River was a major objective to accomplish. Four squads of the Pionier detachment of the 93rd Motorized Infantry Regiment's II. Bataillon were ordered to take the bridge at Homyly. They were driven to and through the village under enemy fire, disembarking next to the woods leading to the bridge. They quickly moved through the woods and came upon the bridge where they spied four French soldiers standing guard at the beginning of the span. In a bold maneuver the 1st, 2nd and 3rd squads rushed the guard detachment, hoping to overwhelm them and grab control of the bridge before it was blown up underneath them. Successful, they occupied the bridge fortifications to await the French reinforcements that were sure to come. . .Attacker: German (Bataillon II, Infantarie Regiment (mot.) 93)

The game was closer than expected, but the needed movement to reclaim the bridge simply exposed the allied troops to too much fire from too many sources and they broke before regaining control. | ||

The Germans eliminated one French half squad in Turn 1 CCPh and the other half squad in Turn 1 PFPh when the French rolled box cars on a MC. This made it possible for the Germans to occupy both foxholes prior to the French reinforcements entering. Then, during the French MPh, a German ATR got a CH on a French AC, wrecking it. The French vainly attempted a round of Prep Fire with no result. On Turn 4, the French made a push for the bridge, reoccupying one of the foxholes. The Germans continued to whittle down the French forces. On the French Turn 5, another German ATR shocked the French AC, preventing it from taking any action. In a desperate attempt to gain control of the bridge, the remaining French infantry stormed forward, but all remaining units were cut down by German fire. | ||
