During the assault on Shaggy Ridge, an American flight lieutenant found himself attached to the Australian infantry. Photo reconnaissance pilot Tommy Roberts -- Tarzan to his friends -- was an expert marksman and trapper who redefined his hunting skills in Colorado during the Depression years. In New Guinea, his commanding officer let Tommy join the Aussies for a taste of action as an infantryman.
