Overview:
By the end of January, remaining Axis force had retreated across the Danube from the Pest side of the city where they formed a bridgehead centered on Castle Hill. One of the Wehrmacht’s finest units, Panzer-Division 13, was with the defenders of Budapest. Consisting of primarily the men of Panzer-Grenadier Regiment 93, the unit had been reduced to battalion level strength. It was still supported by a number of armored vehicles, although the vast majority had, by now, run out of fuel.Attacker: Russian (108th Guards Rifle Division, 21st Guards Tank Brigade, 5th Guards Tank Corps, 245th Guards Artillery Regiment and Buda Volunteer Regiment)
